I thought he was playing in Asia this week? Couldn't find him in the scores.

That was something and was not like he had a John Daly meltdown were he didn't give a shit.

I'm was sad for him, but I was happy to see a pro do it.

One of the few times i was watching was when he was playing that hole. If you just saw the lowlights .....they just showed each "shot" ........you missed how fast he went from shot to shot . It was VERY much like a John Daly meltdown in that way. Funny how he was "mic'ed up" for the whole thing. He had a pretty good attitude in the end. You wonder if the microphone had anything to do with that attitude. Would he have gone ballistic if he was not mic'ed ?

I play a course out in western Colorado that has areas like the one he was trying to play from. Things that have pickers that stick you ...rocks.... every kind of nasty little cactus.....cedar trees that knock down a golf ball instantly....a kind of sand that makes hitting a golf ball impossible...and more of the same on the other side of the hole if you get too frisky. I remember a 12 one time......good thing i did not have a microphone on that day.

I thought he DID go back and hit from the tee. Hit it back in the gunge...did he not ?
Just checked the recording......he hit one off the tee into the "trees".....went BACK to the tee hitting 3.....hit it BACK into the knarlies.......proceeeded to hit several very non-productive shots....even hitting himself with the ball once. Would you have gone back to the tee a SECOND time ? He did what most guys would do.....just tried to get it the F out of there. You can't take an unplayable.....there's a group waiting on the tee that you have been holding up BEFORE this happened....and you have ALREADY gone back to the tee ONCE ! Not a good situation. Golf can be a nasty game at times.

He HAS added to the lexicon though......."He's taking a NA out there."

Yes, I did remember him going back once. Hard to believe any of them worry about holding other up with the time they take per round. He didn't do much better in his second round either.

I think he should have gone back to the tee box a third time, he could have gotten out of there with a 9. :)

Good point Hips ; but i think they have the same sense of embarrassment that most of us have......the nerves start to jangle ...thoughts get muddled...you wonder why the hell you PLAY the game. He was really driving the ball BAD. I have heard from more than one good player over the years , that some of those Texas courses in that area are harder than hell if you are hitting it a little crooked. I have some friends who lived down there and played a lot of golf. Is that a Norman course ? Probably a slope over 150......not a place to spray it around.

Maybe Kevin........tough hole when a NINE starts to sound good !
