Last year was the first year that I haven't won a Seniors amateur event in my area... play about 12 of them each year... so my goal is to win at least one in 2009.... also I was, for some reason ,unable to avoid some big numbers on holes...an 11, two 9's and about three 8's... so playing smarter may take care of both

Sometimes just trying to be closer to the hole after each shot is a worthy goal. :-}

"Bob is sure to be impressed if i get fitted for something ! " It's about time!!! LOL I wouldn't have been so upset with "consistent" mediocre golf. It's that I would shoot 76 one day and 96 the next!! Then pretty soon I would have LOVED to have that consistent 84! It really went in the tank! Like you, though, if my chipping and putting hadn't held up it would have really been a total disaster on some days. My ball striking went on vacation! I'm hoping my little free checkup lesson will help. It's been too cold and windy to practice what I was told to, but it feels really good in the den!

Sounds like you are playing some "real" golf up there in the Canadian Rockies. Good luck with your season and stay away from those big numbers. JJ

Some of those 84's were hard earned. It seems like i played every round in the wind last season ; or maybe a light breeze just "feels" like a wind these days. I had the same problem. I would go out and have a just TERRIBLE ballstriking day and it would really make me wonder why i try to play the game. I was experimenting with some kind of stack and tilt thing , and it was really starting to work for awhile. The problem with making it a permanent change is my tendency to "leak" back to old habits while playing a round. I DID go out and play a really good round in early November where things came together. I played great (in the wind) all day. Best ballstriking round of the year. Greens were a bit slow and bumpy and i stupidly doubled the last hole to shoot 80 , but i hit a ton of solid shots. The important thing for my golf is that i'm having fun out there again. I almost quit a few years ago when it just wasn't fun anymore. I need to be more mentally aggressive in 09. I need to sell myself on every shot and let it happen. Easy to say.......hard to do. JJ
