Today will be real telling especially after his finish. But the double could have helped him since he had played so well up to then. Let's him know that the course can still bite him.

If he blows this lead, he will be ruined for years.

When I watched Saturday, Phil looked disinterested. Resigned that he wouldn't win he seemed to be just going through the motions to finish.

I thought they messed up the course setup. I know everyone is in love with Mike Davis , but this one played like a PGA Championship , not a U.S. Open. Davis said they had the ability to make the greens play firm , no matter what kind of weather they got during the tournament , but the greens were WAY too soft for a U.S. Open , and the rough was not even close to punishing enough when they got in the primary rough. They cut it too short to begin the tournament. Guys were playing cautious golf for the first day , until they started to realize the course was not playing as extreme as they thought it would.

Mike Davis has drawn praise from the players for his setups since 2006. Maybe too much praise from the players. You mess with the history of the tournament when you set the course up to suit the players. The greens are supposed to be very firm and the primary rough is supposed to be penal. The course did not play like that . Even the pace of the greens was not where it should have been. Yeah , they got some rain , but not so much that the conditions should have been affected to the degree they were. They had the latest sub-air thing for the greens , that was supposed to make it easy to for the USGA guys to make them play to their liking. ( According to Davis himself in LINKS MAGAZINE article. ) What happened to firm ? Even a little bit firm would have been nice. How about fast ? They did not appear to have the kind of speed they needed to be U.S. Open fast. Putts were stopping ABOVE some of the holes on downhill putts ! Looked like a freakin PGA Championship.

Nice performance by Rory. He played wonderful golf for four days.

Terrible performance by American players. With the exception of a few guys that had a good tournament (Garrigus and Chappell on the weekend.) , American players were nowhere to be found. Mickelson looked like a guy that is thinking about retirement. No magic to his game these days. Some really bad performances by other guys.....Stricker...looked scared.........Furyk... did he even play ?........ Kucher....in it for three days , but he never seems to make a move in a tournament. Those stupid idiot "Golf Boys"....Crane , Fowler , and Mahan didn't even make the cut and "Jethro" Bubba Watson was nine shots over par on a course where 20 players were under par ! Without Tiger , American golf is in trouble. Euros are taking over the Major tournaments while we have .....THE FREAKIN GOLF BOYS !!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe even some of the Tiger haters in the world who want USA dominance are starting to miss Tiger. :)
