Hey Roy
Gotta agree with you on Alison. She did a great job and surprised me as well. There are several artist whose songs contestants should never choose, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Nancy Wilson among them. They're all power voices. Nancy Wilson and Celine Dion, in particular, can go from a whisper to shaking the walls in a single note. When they announced Alison was going to do Alone I said to my wife and son, "She's doomed. Nobody can do Heart except Nancy Wilson herself!" Boy, was I wrong. The kid flat nailed it.
Look for her to go deep into the competition.

I agree with you on what artist you NEVER sing on Idol. I also thought the same thing when I heard she was singing alone.

And another surprisingly good cover was the girl who got called back, Felicia Barton, when she did Alicia Keys' No One. Keys is another tough one to cover. She's not a power voice like Whitney Houston or Celine Dion but her melodies are very intricate and she has a unique edge - almost a rasp - to her voice that makes every song her own.
BTW, if you don't already have it, treat yourself and buy the CD No One is from "As I Am". You won't regret it.
Cheers
Chuck

I agree I really liked Felicia burton and was semi optimistic she would make the final 3 yesterday. I can't remember though if the judges invited her back for the wildcard or not.

Hi Roy
Unfortunately, Felicia Barton didn't get through but, laughably, Tatiana-the-drama-queen, did. And failed! Judges voted her off in the Wild Card tonight. Good! She's way annoying!
The ones who did make it:
The little Asian girl - sorry, don't remember her name -
Meaghan - the girl with the "sleeve" tattoo
The guy, last name, Giraud, from round one. Just SLAYED a great old blues standard.
Should be interesting from here on.................

Yeah! And Anoop just wasn't that great. I'd much rather have seen Felicia Barton get the chance...........

Cant remember their names, but if that was the black haired girl that lost I agree 100%. IMO sort of unfair to the other groups !!!

Felicia Barton was the really pretty girl with straight black hair that did Alicia Keys' song, "No One". She was the "call back" after another girl was DQ'd due to inside connections with the production company.
Anyway - Felicia did a really good job of a hard song and, in my opinion, deserved a shot at the wild card round but never got it. Instead, Anoop was that last choice for the wild card slot and, in the end, was granted the "13th" position in the top 12! He's OK but not great. Just another of a thousand like him. I just think and injustice was done but, in the end, that's only my opinion and counts for bugger-all!
Cheers
Chuck

Thanks,,, now I know who she is !!!! :D I would agree she should have had another shot, IMO much more than Anoop !! But,,, nothing will change that. IMO, they need to get a "Format" and stick with it this hurts the others as well.

A pretty decent show last night. Am I the only one who is not that impressed with Adam? yeah, he has the energy and stage presence but I don't think he is that great of a singer. The judges practically declared him the winner for this season. Am I missing something?
