Pipe Dream .....the show about the guy living in some construction pipes and trying to make it on the Champions Tour. Hard to tell how contrived this thing is , but i have caught 3 or 4 episodes. The guy is hard to like.....but , somehow , there are plenty of guys he used to know who are willing to help him out.
At least he didn't pick a really hard dream to pursue. I have heard that getting on the Champions Tour is pretty much cake. They are fervently looking for unknown guys with a little bit of game to walk-on the Tour. There are a ton of openings for guys like that...............yeah.

The hard thing , and maybe the most real thing , about the show is that Mark is one of those guys that you might have a negative response to if you played nine holes with him. He has that " homeless stare" and kind of shuffles around in his own world much of the time. Apparently he has some kind of lawsuit going that he has an obsession with....something about somebody setting him up....must have missed that episode.
On the surface the show seems kind of ridiculous , but the guy does have that authentic homeless smell , so it has that "car crash" attraction going for it.

It's definitely an improvement , if that's the word , on that increasingly nauseous Big Break stuff. Mouthy bimbos going up against arrogant thirty-something pricks has lost any appeal it once had. I watched only one show of that last one and , pretty much , hated every single one of them after 30 minutes.

I guess i don't like reality shows , but "Pipe Dream" has something authentic going for it . Whether we shoulld care , is another thing. If things get any worse i may be homeless soon...so i'm taking notes. :0)

About the show, I have not seen it, so I really can't comment on it.

I'm assuming by the number of people who viewed your post and not replied, that they have not watched it. :)

I got the same impression of the guy. Can't believe how much help he gets and magically comes up with a tour quality set of clubs.

I've gotten the opposite feel about getting on to the champ tour. We talked to a couple of the club pros that were here for the senior open about their chances of making it. They were paired with tour regulars and were told that it was pretty much a closed shop. Very few openings through q school and you have to place well there to even have a shot at Monday qualifying. Talked to another pro with double digit pga wins and he couldn't understand how players got selected for tourneys. He was pointing out many with lesser stats that got to play every week they wanted where he had a tough time getting slots.

It was , actually , not that bad a show......for one of these kind of things. We seem to have several people viewing , but not posting anything. Too bad......would be nice to get some new posters in here. At least ; if they think i'm a moron , they could post something to that effect ! :D

I TRY to be a moron sometimes...(not hard to do).... just to get some reaction.

I was , of course , being facetious about getting on the Champions Tour. It's extremely hard to get into one of their events. They want "names" out there......not just guys who can play. I'm sure Mark was a good player at one time , but his competition are the BEST guys in their fifties all over the country ! Even if you are an excellent player , they really don't want you out there. I heard there are about five spots open for qualifiers ...if that !

Now that he has some notoriety , he'll probably pop up at one of the lesser events and shoot 90 or something.

No wonder he had that hernia.....carrying a tour bag full of clubs and gear on a bicycle. I pulled a groin just watching that !!! Seriously......i have a pulled groin now......a psychosomatic pulled groin.

Good luck to Mark though ; life is a bitch sometimes. Maybe he does have the stones to make it out there. At least he's shooting high.

Well Tommy 2 gloves seems to be doing OK after a GC promotion. Took him a couple of yearsto get on the big show consistantly though. Maybe there is hope and he will have some recognition now. The first couple of years at the even here, I couldn't believe some of the non-name we had. Now it is a very top flight field with only Tom Waston not coming.

Tommy Gainey has been amazing. The guy just takes a rip at it and gets the job done.

We have NO bigtime golf here in Colorado....none. Not even a Nationwide event. No Champions Tour. No Lpga Tour.

We have had a few USGA events moving through . Old guys last year , or year before..... and the girls this year...i think??? I'm too cheap to go to them. Every time i price the tickets and consider the hassle of the crowds ; i invariably opt to spend the money playing the game instead.
I go to the Colorado Open one of the days most years. Good players and the price is right....free. But ; we have had this conversation before. Fun to watch high quality golf close-up. They hit the ball so pure. I like the sound their irons make .

How about " Morning Drive " ..........anybody watching this show ? They get some good guests . Too much college basketball for my blood , but if you like it , probably not enough . The guy on the left , Eric , is one of those "sports guys" ....doesn't know much about golf and doesn't know when to shutup. The other guy is more of a golf guy and i like Holly Sonders....who wouldn't ? Not a bad show.....thumbs up so far.
