It's not coming from the players, and those are the people to whom it applies." If the people to whom it applies are not complaining, then why are others? NOTE: To respond to this post press 1!! Ooops!...I accidently hit the * button and got the "rap" version. Have you checked out the Yahoo! sports blog written by Roy S. Johnson yet?...It has over 1500 replies, and it is as wild as any post I have read on the "Dark Side".Most of the posts I can't really agree with, but one in particular was very well written, and it explains why this is such a problem to the fans of golf and the LPGA.It is reply #1561,written by Th N.This person does remind people what is confusing most of us fans...If the LPGA promotes itself as a diverse tour consisting of players from all over the world, then why make a rule like this that could eventually come back to bite them in the ass? Scenario #1:Some irate parents complaining that their daughter, who is deaf and mute, cannot compete on this tour because of this rule, although she was good enough to qualify for the tour going through Q-school. Scenario #2:Let's say someone qualifies for the tour that doesn't speak english currently. They start trying to learn today, but are not quite prepared by 2009 to face the media using it.In fear of being suspended, they nervously try to use it in an interview, but butcher a few words and end up insulting people!...(ex:I would like to...spank{thank} Samsung...for your...general{generous}...contribe{contribution} to our tour.)...I can almost picture this happening. Edit on 9-3-08:It has already bit them in the ass with one sponsor.State Farm doesn't like it. http://adage.com/article?article_id=130699I don't really disagree with any of your points, however, IMO, they left a very large gray area and I would assume that common sense would rule the day. In your example, I can see and have seen it happen, perhaps not in Golf but in other areas, and saw a worse example than the one you presented. It was a larger group, larger function, and the only exception was that when the lady began to speak, she started by saying to the effect that while she was studying English, she had not yet mastered the language. She went on to insult the audience twice and got a roaring applause for her performance and efforts to speak a language that for her was difficult. No one was offended. This whole thing reminds me of that phone commercial where the young guy insults the owner of a company but mispronouncing his name. If the LPGA were to treat this as a "black/white" issue with no gray area, I would not agree or support them in any way, but this is America, and if they want to play here full-time, they should learn English. " If the LPGA were to treat this as a "black/white" issue with no gray area, I would not agree or support them in any way, but this is America, and if they want to play here full-time, they should learn English." I myself don't disagree with that,in fact,I tried to post on the Yahoo! blog as a comment to all the discussion that was going on with this, with no success,so I will try to post my feelings on this issue to here.I don't know if it will work, but I'll give it the good ole' English try. Aah!...It didn't work, but let me recall the post. I simply stated that I didn't care what nation they were from or whether or not they could speak English,I enjoyed watching them play golf period.Their game is all that matters to me.I don't feel that these players should be punished in any way just because they can't learn a language that might be hard for some of them to learn.I also stated that I too had learning disabilities at a young age(at age 5 I couldn't read or write, and I'm American, but some extensive tutoring really helped me along). There are much better ways of dealing with this issue than the way they have dealt with it. Anytime you get actual law-makers and sponsors involved in this process,it turns the good into a bad in a real hurry. I think that State Farm and those CA law-makers really awoke Biven's senses toward this issue, and she is now learning the horrible truth that comes along when you "Don't treat everyone as equals". She needs some sensitivity awareness courses,to say the least.
