Favorite movie scenes.....

You are right, some of the old ones are the greatest! While I am not that much of a movie buff as you sound to be, there are some that I watch every time I see them on and it seems as though I take something different away from the movie.........I guess that is a sign of the quality and "greatness" that I called it. I love TCM and I have found some very good ones on the Hallmark channel as well.

My Father in law is right there with you and he has his collection sorted by actors, wow, I feel like an idiot when he and I start talking movies. :?

You're right, Hallmark has some wonderful films too. Like your Dad I've had to create a spreadsheet for my film library. I have them sorted by Genre, Title, Actors and Release Date. While they are arranged in the cabinets by Title the spreadsheet makes it makes it easier for me to decide on something to watch when I need to make a choice. That way if I am in the mood for a Western I can look at my western collection on the spreadsheet to remind me what I have to choose from. If Christine is interested in a Comedy or a Romance we can search through those films on the spreadsheet as well. I've tried to slow down on new purchases because the move now is towards streaming video. You're at a point now where you can select any film you want, go to a site and download that film and then watch it off your hard drive storage within minutes. No reason to purchase a DVD now. Investing in DVDs isn't really financially a good idea anymore.

My FIL love TCM channel as it runs movies with no commericals. He records them and makes his own labels and covers. I can't tell them apart unless I open the DVD case and there is no insert, which usually comes with a DVD. He really enjoys doing that and was just recently telling me how many Errol Flynn movies he had and John Wayne movies he had.

Two of my favorites......"Robinhood" w/ Errol Flynn and "The Searchers" w/ John Wayne are terrific.......Did you know that Roy Rogers discovered Trigger while watching Olivia DeHaviland during the filming of Robinhood? The horse she (Maid Marian) rides in Robinhood is Trigger. Roy saw Trigger and made an offer on the spot to purchase him. The rest is history as it is well known that Trigger was considered the smartest horse to ever be in motion pictures. The history of Trigger is legendary and it began on the set of Robinhood.

Well, all of those sound good to me too.........I spent a part of last year accumulating all of Randolph Scotts films. Have you ever seen the celebrity golf film of Sam Snead playing Randolph Scott? Scott was the best golfer in hollywood. Truly a nice swing...he beat Snead. Yes it was a handicapped event but Snead was hard to beat under any circumstance and he hated losing to a hollywood filmm star.
