It would be a really nice story if Padraig could win his third major ina row. Looks like the conditions are benign....anything can happen. They have taken some of the character out of the course with the huge increase in length. It's like good cooking......add your flavorings a little bit at a time and take the time to taste the finished product. They have taken some of the excitement out of this course , because they could not stop themselves from frucking with it. I was listening to Tiger at his press conference yesterday............he said there were not that many birdie holes out there and you had to make them where you could............and that's TIGER saying that !! He seemed to be saying he thought that the course was better the way it played several years ago. I PLAYED YESTERDAY !!!!!........WINDY.......shot the ubiquitous 84.......who knew ? ( Hey...i worked , ubiquitous , into a sentence. )

I think the Green Jackets are freaking out right now. The red numbers are winning, but they'll fix it. Watch the green speed go up and the fairway speed go down for tomorrow. They even have Gary Player talking about not quitting. :-}

Absolutely some great scores yesterday. I was really surprised at the committee's setup (especially the very accessible pins) but it was day one, and I think they wanted to get a baseline with benign weather for the changes they made. 17 and 18 still had plenty of teeth. Campbell was absolutely on FIRE!! Great play. He was definitely in the "zone." If he repeats that performance today, he'll be tough to catch on the weekend, but the more noraml course would be for that not to happen to for him to struggle today. With Tiger "in sight" the ratings will still be good today. I look for him to putt better today. He was hitting the ball quite well. Several others are "in the mix" early. Today should be a good one. One thing to watch...will Phil make the cut? LOL I heard sound bite after sound bite about his "new driver" that hit the ball straight, so he didn't have to worry about that aspect. I guess he forgot that, for a lefty at Augusta a high fade is the shot of choice off the tee. If the weather holds today, which it is suppposed to, it will be interesting to see the setup. I would suspect it will be a little "tougher" and the men will be separated from the boys.

There were some fantastic scores yesterday.....perhaps a few more than wanted......but IMO they want some good scores to quiet all the "talk" about the last couple of years and the setup of the course. Another decent day today and all that will be ancient history and the green coats will be happy again! I look today for some more difficult pin placements.........with the scores yesterday, I don't think they liked the streaks of birdies......and will try to break up the location of the pins........but then again, what do I know????? I enjoyed watching and will do the same today!!!!!!!!

38 players under par on the first day? Birdie runs of 4 and 5 holes? Unbelievable!!!! Listening to the naysayers this should not have been even remotely possible.
The cut is top 44 and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead. Will it be under par for the first time in a long time?
It will be interesting to see if Phil can get it together and make the cut. They say wind and rain are coming for the afternoon, it could get interesting.

You have to hope Campbell hits a few errant shots.....unless , of course , you are big fan. He's skewing the whole thing right now , so i'm hoping he comes back some.
