Fred Couples turned 50 last month (how is this possible?) and is now eligible to play the Champions Tour. "My plan is to play the regular tour. Knock on wood, I'm going to play more golf than I've played since I was 25 years old, tournament-wise. I have to play seven or eight on the senior tour and about 12 on our tour. I'll play Newport Beach, the L.A. Open, San Diego ... Pebble Beach. ... I'll never really be able to come back to the PGA Tour, but I still love to play with the guys and get the good pairings that I get. I've played with these guys my whole life and I want to play with them as long as I can, and I think that'll be one more year."

I like Fred Couples.........good luck to Freddie. Play while you can ..................because it gets harder and harder.

He still has tons of game.

You know ; we have nothing here now. No PGA...no Nationwide....no LPGA....no Champions Tour......no Canadian Tour.....no Hooters Tour ( and i'm partial to Hooters)......................we have the Colorado Open and the Denver Open. They play some good golf , but don't attract many big name guys. One young guy was carrying his own bag a few years ago . I was among a gallery of three people for their group. I wanted to offer to carry his bag , ( kind of , like that crazy guy that caddies for Happy Gilmore) but he didn't look like he had enough money to pay for my coke at the turn and it was 95 degrees in the shade. He was playing in a group with Mark Wiebe. Mark was tuning up for the senior tour and i was thinking i might rake a bunker wrong , or stand in the wrong place , or just do SOMETHING that would piss him off and make him miss the cut. I decided it wasn't worth it to offer my services and slunk off to the clubhouse for a cold beer. The kid carrying his own bag missed the cut and i still feel bad that i didn't offer to carry his bag. He'll probably make it really big and i could have been his caddy...or caddie.

Anyway....a senior event would fit real nice in Colorado , but all the money men must be hiding under a rock or there is nothing available. I'm probably too cheap to go to the dang thing , even if they play here. I would rather play than watch.

Coors doesn't seem to have any presence in golf. But you have every other sport covered there. Seemed like when the International was there, thunderstorms were always a big concern so maybe that has stopped some of the interest too.

Got a letter from Fred yesterday...along with about 3000 others in the area :D
