in again winning the cup. USA wins 19-15.
what I learned this week:
- The USA does have some real good young golfers and should have solid ryder/president cup teams in the future.
- Dustin Johnson has a weak game around the greens. His weakness was really exposed this week.
- What the heck happened with Phil during the first 15 holes yesterday. That was the worst golf I ever saw Phil play. I hope everything is all well with the family and personal life. His head just seemed way out of it for a good portion of the match. His lackluster uninspired early play and not seeing him after the cup was won makes me wonder if they he had to quickly return to the states.
- Tiger's game is ready for him to start winning.

Yeah......Dustin is sketchy with the putter at times and he doesn't seem to be decisive with his pitches sometimes. Makes more sense to leave a 100 yard shot in to some of those shorter holes than to face a 40 yard spinner over some of those false fronts. Some hard shots in places around those greens...nasty !
Phil may have some health problems with his arthritis that we don't know about. He looked like a 12 handicap on the first 4 holes ! Still.....he had a good showing for the Cup. Furyk gave him credit for getting him going and he played good golf first three days.
Norman's picks didn't pan out ; although Badds played a ton of good shots. Allenby could not have played worse. He is usually a good tee to green player , but not this week. Couldn't hit the planet with ANYTHING and he just can't make a putt.
Some other guys were awful in the early going and Els just can't get the ball in the hole anymore. Golf is like that though.........terribly hard to get it done at times.
Good vibe to the thing though. I enjoyed it .

Maybe the best thing a captain can do is have a good time and stay out of their way. Not much coaching or anything else to be done in golf. I think you will see Couples captain another one and a Ryder Cup too.

Freddie mentioned in an on course interview after the cup was won that he would enjoy being the captain again. I can't see any reason why the PGA would want to change captains.

Nicklaus has never been a Ryder Cup Captain ? Very strange.
They never fail to start their yapping about how it wasn't competitive enough . I thought it was right on the edge for most of the week . Could have gone either way a few times. The Ryder Cup has been like that too. A few matches suddenly go one way and it's a five point win. Just the way it goes in that format in my opinion. Norman always wants to re-invent the wheel. He must be a pain in the ass to work for in the golf course design business. Maybe that's why all his courses are too expensive to play. They have to re-do everything when he helicopters in ........" But Greg...that's going to add another 50 bucks to the green fee." " That's perfect...i want it to cost 100 bucks more than Jack's course over there. We don't want more than ten groups a day on the course. Most of our members just want to hear how i worked with the natural contours and what a bloomin genius i am .... i AM a bloomin genius you know. "
