Was going to put up a big post about 9/11 but I noticed there was no traffic on the subject..................................

So let me just say this - I saw it as it happened, on TV in our offices that morning. We had a colleague on the ground in NY at Liberty Plaza - right next door - she felt the impact and alerted us! She survived - but was changed - forever. And so were we, here, in Toronto. The thunder of CF-18 Hornets circling the city perimeter? Enough said!

My profound gratitude to those who serve, both American and Canadian! Shake a soldier's hand and say "Thanks". I do - whether (s)he's US or Canadian Forces.

With Respect
Chuck

I am a Nam Vet Chuck.....I've been going up to those that serve for many years...before 911 even. Now, since 911, I seek them out even more. It's amazing how much they appreciate something as simple as a kind word/thanks.

Nam vet here too! We helped a few find their way in the airport while meeting golfers a few weeks ago. Most had a NCO waiting for them.

When we have Remembrance Day, here in Canada, commemorating the end of WW2, the WW1 and WW2 vets sell plastic poppy flowers representing those who fell in those two wars. They always thank me when I put a couple bucks in their tray for the poppy. Without exception, I'm compelled to say, "No. Thank YOU!"

When I see a soldier in an airport, whether their shoulder flash is the Canadian flag or the "Stars and Bars", they're protecting North America - you and me. I'm a rabidly proud Canuck (I don't take offense at the nickname) but we share a continent and a way of life. These young men and women are fighting to protect that - as did the old vets who proudly pin that plastic poppy on my jacket.

Hips, Bagger - I think you'd agree, war is Hell and, unless you been there, YOU DON'T KNOW. So to you, the young and fresh faces I see shipping out in airports like Atlanta, and the old vets who sell me poppies at the local mall - my eternal gratitude.

Greatest respect,
Chuck

Thanks, it was an interesting experience but I didn't want to do it again. Even with all the incentives they offered me.
