For new irons. :0)

I'm very satisfied with my woods and wedges and putter, and am not unhappy with my irons, but I've had them 3.5 years, and I'm just tired of looking at them!! LOL I've tried several over the last couple of months, and even though I have the bug for new ones, I won't buy just to buy. They have to perform in some way better than the ones I have. So far, I've not found any that do.

Yesterday I checked out a demo set for the weekend from my golf shop, the new Exotics XCG. They are a great-looking club, and I really like the way they look at address (very important to me). If they don't look right when I set them down, there's no use trying them out.

I'm taking them to the range in a little while, and then tomorrow playing one of the munis here with them, with one of my golf buddies. On Sunday I will play them on my home course with my regular group. Just on looks alone, I'm excited to try them out.

How about you? Are you satisfied with your set but still look pretty much constantly or once your bag is set does it stay that way virtually forever? When you change a club or set, what's your motivation?

And along the lines of trying them out, do you have a local shop that will allow you, like mine, to take an "entire set" out for a couple of days or so, so you can really get a fair trial? I find this a great service.

If you feel you like them, would you then get fitted or just buy them off the rack? If I find I like the feel of these, and the ball flight and the distance is acceptable, I would then go through a full fitting session to find the right shaft, lie, and maybe even have the loft adjusted on some to make my gaps what I want. I also don't just get a shaft and lie angle fitting with one club and go with that. I go through a fitting for each club!!

How about you?

Man,,, what are ya trying to do pass that "Bug" to the rest of us ??? LOL

Right now I am satisfied with what is in the bag. If I "Did" get the notion as you have mentioned I would go through the same procedure, not just take one off the rack and stick it in the bag.

I wish ya luck and I agree, Don't Buy just to Buy !!!! Very dangerous !!!! :D

As I stated, I'm not "unhappy" with the irons I have, I'm just tired of looking at them!! LOL About every three years I get the "bug" for irons. It's a recurring sickness!!

I took them to the range yesterday afternoon and hit them alongside my present irons. Hard to tell for sure on the range, but on average I appeared to be about a half club longer. One thing that was noticeable was that they felt very, very good. It was hard to tell I'd hit the ball, they felt so soft!! Ball flight was down some from mine, which is not a bad thing, as I hit a pretty high ball. Can't tell about spin and such until I get them on the course Sunday!!!! They are the first I've tried out that I'm interested enough in to continue trying them. This may be the ONE!!! ;) ;) :D :D

Pretty Sweet looking sticks there !!!!! :D :D

I know the feeling about the every three year thing !!! Sounds like if the brought the ball flight down that could be a good thing. Don't have to tell ya this but the course will be the big test !!!!!

Good Luck my friend,,,, you will make the right decision !!!!!

("I can see them in the bag now") !!!!! :D

Since retiring, I've stayed one step behing the current technology which is affordable to everyone, if you don't have to have that newest, latest club. I love my Cobra driver, but they have just announced the release of the L5V (I think) drive in October. Now is the time I will begin my search for a closeout deal of a new L4V driver that fits my specs!

That bug is out there!

I wondered when you were going to get to that Mizuno thing! ;)

I plan on trying one or two or their sets before I buy, now that they make clubs for "normal" golfers!! LOL
There are two shops in town that carry them in stock, one of which will allow a 30-day trial for $30!!! It's not my regular store, but that's a pretty good deal, so when I look at those, I'll see what that's all about.

My "looking" is a long process. Once it's over, though, I've never been dissatisfied with my purchases.
