Wll hello everyone. I have been M.I.A. from here for last 3 weeks.ve been up in The U. P. of Michigan visting my broher and family and had a neice graduate from High School. Got back last Saturaday and leave again this coming saturday for Las Vegas. My buddies and i will spend Saturday and sunday staying at the Monto Carlo.Lot to see and do there for sure. Then monday we will start off playing golf at Silverstone. We always pick one course to play each year when we are here.
Then monday after golf we will drive to Mesquite which is about 85 miles north of Vegas on I-15.
This is my 7th year going to Mesquite. we started out as a group of 3 and now we are up to 68. its a hell of a golf package we have. Five nights four days. four fantastic golf courses. a drink badge all you can drink beer whiskey. 2 free buffets for $415.00 for each guy sharing a room. $515.00 a single. The courses we paly alone cost about as much as the whole package.
Mesquite is out in the desert in the middle of nowhere but the courses really nice. You got Falcon Ridge, The Oasis where the Big Break was played. These courses were cut out of these canyons and buttes. Lots of elevation changes to say the least. this year we are going to play in St George Utah one day. A course called the Ledges. it looks very nice if there website is any indication.
And then there is world famous Wolf Creek in Mesquite. I have played the Wolf 8 times and this course is one of most visually stunning courses you will ever play. # 2 you go up to an 11 story high tee box and tee off over a mountain ridge thats been cut out to a fairway down in a valley. What a hole. The the next is a par 3 175 yard par 3 straight up in the air on top of a mountain. if you get a chance go to there website and check the pictures out. This course is my favorite to paly even though it usallu kicks my butt. So thats waht i got in store for myself nxext week If any you guys ever get a chance to go to Mesquite i would highly reccomend it. We stay at the Eureka casino. They have golf packages galore.

Ok cobra, i know i promised you a recap on my Las vegas and Mesquite golf trip. Better late than never i say. :D Well after 2 days of taking in Las vegas and having quite a bit of good luck on the blackjack table Monday AM we headed out for North Las Vegas to the Silverstone Golf Course. Finding the place was kind of tricky as you really have to pay attention to the directions but once you get there it worth it. THey have 3 nines to play from. the mountain, valley and the desert they were called. Thats a little misleading as i was expecting a lot of elevation changes but all 3 nines were flat. The course was real pristine. the fairways were like hitting off a shag carpet. The greens were in immaculate shape. Not a lot of traps but enough to keep you honest. They have a par 5 on the desert course we played that is the longest par 5 in nevada 623 yards. it gave me fits ill tell ya. All my buddies enjoyed playing this course so much that we might go back next year when we go again for our yearly trip. http://www.silverstonegolfclub.com/inde ... enitem=472
Now on to Mesquite its a little over a an hours a drive to get there. well Tuesday AM our first course of 4 in row is Falcon Ridge. We first played it when it first opened about 5 years ago, I really didn"t like it. On the back nine you have a couple of holes that have blind shots and i didnt hit the ball to good so this course went on th ******* list right off the bat. But we have played it the last 2 years in a row and its starting to grow on me. Lots of elevation changes.Like i said before this course is cut out of buttes and mountains. i call it a wannbe Wolf Creek. Its got some tough holes #12 is a par five your hitting from on top of mountain down to a landing area that has water on both sides of fairway.the the water snakes around to the green its a gorgeous hole to say the least. a par and a double is the best that i could do. The rest of course is the same way up and down but very scenic. I would reccomend playing this course. its very diffrent and unique. I almost had a hole in one on #17 .it rolled right over the cup and i finished with a birdie so i took this course off the*** list. :D :D http://www.golfmesquitenevada.com/golf- ... ridge.html
Day 2 we went to a course called The Palms. We played it one other time and it was the same. Not to good. The front nine is fairly flat and the back nine has some elevation changes but nothing like Falcon Ridge. The fairways on the front nine were burnt to a crisp.Just like when we played the several years ago. Greens were not in good condition either. So definetly this course is a thumbs down and i would stay away from it at all costs. There are too many nicer courses here in Mesquite and St George to be messing around playing there. Well I think ill will quit now and finish this recap up this weekend. I promise cobra lol. I got 2 more courses to go thru but the two of best you will ever play the Ledges in St George,Utah and the big bad Wolf Creek. Part 2 to be continued.

Great recap Gary,,,,,,,,, sounds like you are having a blast !!!! Looks and seems like this would be something to look into for a trip !!!!! Glad your taking them all in and having a great time. I wonder if Falcons Ridge has anything to do with Falcons Fire in Orlando ???? That 623 yard par 5 would give anyone fits,,, not just you my man !!!! :D Sounds like a neat hole though,,, !!! LOL

Well, enjoy and let us know what the next ones are like !!!!!! Thanks again for the recap !!!! :D
