........but I think Tiger is done!
He's lost his 2nd last significant sponsor (Tag-Heuer). He's becoming even more nasty with the media. He starts tournaments strong and then falls apart.
Heard Jim Nelford (a promising former Canadian PGA player who's career was cut short by a tragic boating accident - left arm was destroyed by a boat prop). Nelford has become quite a cerebral student of the game and injuries that come from it. His opinion is that Tiger's knee is beyond rehab and that we're really just waiting for the announcement he's retiring. His only concession was if Tiger could find somebody to stop him snapping that left knee back on the down-swing he could go on. Said if he keeps doing that he'll shred the knee again and, if so, he may even jeopardize his ability to walk normally.
Then there's the issue of whether he still has the mental acuity that made him so formidable. I think he still wrestles with many daemons from his randy past.
OK! That's my opnion. Have at it!
Cheers............Tele

Still way too early to get that conclusion for me.
Actually, he was great with the media after his round yesterday according to Ian Baker-Finch. He actually was very talkative and gave more details than normal after a round like yesterday. He was fine with the media during his press conference, his usual give the media ONLY what he wants to give.
I can't agree with the starts tournamnets strong then gets worse. To me he goes through spurts of real good golf, many spurts of bad golf and the rest is mediocre at best. This is something that will be fixed with more rounds under his belt.
As for the knee, only time will tell. He spoke at his press conference at how he has felt the best he has in years. IT could be complete B.S., again only time will tell.
As for his mentality, I think he is fine and will be continue to be fine. Super strong mental people just don't lose that capability. His past wont affect it. People who lie, cheat on their spouse etc... really don't have that much of a conscious and find it easy to block that stuff out. IMO
He will be back, I'm still quite sure.

Roy, I can't argue about the pressers. Didn't see 'em yesterday. Some of my comment was based on a Blog I follow from time to time that's written by a tour insider. He was saying the writers are getting real tired of him now that he doesn't have the performance to back up the arrogance and petulance when he's interviewed.

He played better today, saw some of his presser and he was very cordial. He can't retire, he owes to much in spousal support;-)

Can Tiger even make it inot the FedEx playoffs now? He said he wasn't playing next week. He sure could give those lesser tournaments a boost if he played in them and t looks like he could use the practice.

I guess with next week he originally said last week he would play if he needed the points, but then someone must have quickly reminded him that he had the kids that weekend. If true and being a divorced father myself I give him kudos for not cancelling his time with the kids.
No fedex for him. I think he needs competitive golf and he should (he NEVER will) play nationwide events and then the lesser PGA events after the fedex. Do they still have that part of the schedule anyway?
Like I said, I think he has still has the same mental makeup about him, but I will concede one thing. In the past we would have seen him grind it out and either make the cut or give it a real good run at it. There was no run and once he made the first double bogey you can see the air go out of the sails, something we never ever seen from him before. This is about the 4th time we have seen this post thankgiving 2009. Maybe a little crack in the mental toughness.

There are still tournaments afterwards. Pushing it as the final drive for the top 125 or something like that. Don't think they have started the idea of having lower ranked pga tour players and top natiowide players going for a number of slots.

Just read that he isn't going to play until the Aussie Opend, 2nd week of November. Supposedly they have already paired him with Adam Scott and...

Well thought I would check in here again. Its been way too long I know. I have had a lot on my plate since i was last here in June. But Tele im going to have to lean more and more to your way of thinking. Tiger just is not showing anything at all with his golf game and he is getting more surly by the day Still being the typical jerk to the media and his public. If he were to get back to where he was pre 2010 it would be a come back for the ages. Can he get there possibly but will he like I have said many time in here time will tell. But it just isnt looking real good for him right now. But Roy how long his too long to see if can come back? But i repeat i"m not writing him off not with his talent. You just cant . We will see how he comes out firing next year more than likely at Torrey Pines. Providing he doesnt screw the knee up anymore next year should tell the story on Tiger.

Gary, The thing is that he has not played any type of consistent stretch of golf, especially this year, were we can see if his game is getting better or not. If he plays 18-20 tournies next and still is floundering then I say he may be doomed, but until then it is too early. He has had one obstacle after another derailing his comeback.
