I'm sure most of you remember Ken Green. Never amounted to much on the tour - other than gaining a rep as an eccentric hot head who always wore teal green shoes on the course. Had a bit of a mean streak, too. Followed him for a few holes at the Canadian Open, in the late 80s, and watched him, twice, walk off a green and just toss his putter 6ft over his head and back and then trash his caddie for not catching it and letting the grip touch the ground.

Well, doesn't matter how much of a jerk somebody is, you couldn't wish this on them. He's been off the tour for a while after getting a full-blown case of the yips - over ANY shot not just a putt. Played the Nationwide then clawed his way back on through Q-School. Then last year, while driving home from a tournament, blew a tire on his RV and slammed a tree. His brother, the brother's girlfriend and Ken's beloved German Shepherd were all killed. He lost the lower half of his right leg. But he was going through physio and trying to get back on the course.

It was announced, today, that his son was found dead of unknown causes in his university residence. Police are investigating but it will be some time before the cause of his death is known.

Like I said, he was a flake and a jerk but, that's more than anybody should be expected to endure. I'll be surprised if we don't hear word of a suicide or, at least, a complete melt-down. I feel very sorry for him.

With respect -
Chuck

I read that Chuck.....hard to imagine getting through all that and coming out the other side.
I remember Ken Green from his days on tour in the 80's . He DID have a somewhat bad reputation at the time , but nobody deserves that kind of string of bad luck.

There..but for the grace of God.

Very tragic indeed, but he is a fighter. I would say when he gets through some of the grieving process, he will try once again to get back on the course.

Daughter has an expression - "Karma's a Bitch! Sooner or later she's gonna get ya!"
OK! Ken Green was a jerk when he was on tour but this isn't Karma. This is life being a cruel bitch.......................
