Kim Welch is finally playing with the sponsor"s exemption she got for winning the Big Break at the Navistar LPGA Classic. She is a local girl here and lives not to far from me. She is 2 under par and only 5 shots off the lead. She can hit the you know what out with the driver for those of you who watched the Big Break which i am a big fan of. Dont hurt me too bad guys. lol Just watching her game,the putting seems to be her bugaboo at times. But would love to see her make the cut this weekend and see what she can do with Lorena and the gang. She got her card but has virually no status so is going to the final stage of tour school in hopes of improving her position.
The local paper had an article about her playing this week and said she still hasnt received her Mercedes-Benz sport car she won as one of her prizes. They didnt say why but if that was me i would be looking into finding out why hadnt got it yet. I would probably would kill myself if i had one of those lol. anyways go Kim and make the cut please so i can watch this weekend. :D :D :D

I watched her on Big Break, and she was my favorite of that show, not only for her game, mind you! ;) She a very attractive lady!

I got to watch her on a couple of holes yesterday, and it did seem like, just as on BB, her putting is what's mostly holding her back. Hopefully, she can improve on that. She'd make a good addition to the LPGA.
I hope she does well at Q-School final stage. It seems ridiculous to me, that on both the LPGA and PGA that gaining a card sometimes means little or nothing as it relates to being able to tee it up in events. I understand the process, but it seems it should be changed somehow, like giving these Q-School graduates a guarantee of X number of events.

I'd be raising hell about the Benz too! This is not the first time I've heard of participants not receiving their prizes in a timely manner. I don't know what the problem is, but it's not a good thing. Maybe the publicity will nudge TGC/Benz to get moving on whatever the problem(s) is.

Hope she makes the cut!!
==========================================================================================================

Decided to go check out the leaderboard...she was doing "okay" at +1 on the day, then had a DISASTER on her 8th hole, took a 10 on a par five! She's now 4 over the projected cut line...don't know what happened, but I hope she can pull it together and make some birdies, lots of them, coming in.

Kim completely shot her foot off with that 10 on # 8. That"s ashame. Im sure she wont make the cut. Hopefully she learned something from it and will move on and make herself better from this experience. I know ill be following her progress thru Q school. And yes she is quite the looker to say the least. :D :D :D

I thought I saw on TGC a short blurb where she was at the BMW plant in SC test driving and getting set up to get her car. I did not watch the show, so I really didn't pay too much attention, but I thought she was there to pick up her prize. I think it was a BMW not a Benz.

Its a shame if these winners have to wait this long to receive their prize, I bet if she were paying cash for "Either" car she won it wouldn't take this long !!!!!! :D

She might be having trouble getting the cash together to pay the taxes on it. Whatever state she tries to register it in is gonna want some sales tax before they give her a plate for it. Income taxes on the MSRP are gonna be pretty steep too.

Personally I would have sold it and pocketed the difference between what she owes for taxes and whatever she gets for it. Some dork would pay top dollar to have the car won on the "Big Break".

Later,

My guess is with a free-and-clear BMW and her looks and her game, she'll have NO problem finding the money for the sales tax, and probably the taxes too!! ;) ;) ;)

You are right Fungolfer, it was BMW-Z-4 sports Coupe. i read it wrong in the article here locally. I think they did give away a Benz in a previous Big Break. Im glad she is getting the spoils of her victory. yes im sure the taxes would be brutal to come up with the money but like you said in the above post im sure she has some backers who are more than welcome to help her out. :D :D :D
