I was up from the start of this, BRUTAL weather. THe first match after 2 hours of play is only on the 6th hole. Every green has to have water brushed off for every group going through. Play was finally suspended when Stricker playing in the fairway had no place to drop (they are playing lift, clean and place). ALso, it's windy and only 55ยบ out there.

I played 27 holes in weather like that a couple of years ago. It never let up all day...cold...breezy...rain. It does not get any more difficult than those kind of conditions.

I may have had better raingear than the USA team had out there. I heard they bought those rainsuits from Monty's uncle. ;)

My raingear consists of a Lowe Alpine Systems mid-weight climbing jacket and an old pair of ( now ill-fitting) Moonstone side zip shell pants , designed more for backcountry sking than golf. The jacket works very well and the pants seem to do the trick , as long as you are not trying to look good out there.

Those rainsuits looked like a last minute "put together" kind of thing. The stupid racing stripes on one side and the much too prominent USA on the back. Add that to the fact that they did not keep the players dry .....well you have a nightmare for any outerwear company. Nice job by Sun Mountain. I didn't know what company made them. The announcers seeemed to be careful not to let anyone know. You would have thought they would have the absolute best gear for the Ryder Cup.

I read that in the contract for the equipment providers, that there can't be any company logos on them or can they advertize that they provided Ryder Cup material.
I have a Mizuno jacket and bucket hat and Ashworth hat that work pretty well.

That makes sense.....good thing for SunMountain. I'm sure they won't be in a hurry to let anyone know it was their rainsuits.

I have a bucket hat around here somewhere. I usually put the hood up ....taking it down when i swing. It seems hard to stay dry in a hard rain. Not much fun ....and even less when it's cold. I guess it doesn't really matter .....but i'm blaming the loss on the rainwear flap. :)

Looks like Mrs. Pavin knew beforehand of the problem.

Incredibly stupid of Pavin to let her anywhere near ANYTHING that had to do with the team. It had to be a good bet that they would get a cold rain in Wales at sometime during the matches.

Those stupid stripes and the much too large USA on the back made the team look like a bunch of wankers. The only part of the matches i saw was that first morning while i was at a motel. I couldn't believe how stupid they looked in those things....... and then they said they were not keeping the guys dry ! Millionaires getting wet because they had bad rainwear ! C'mon Corey.....give her a roll of cash and send her shopping or something fer cryin out loud. At least those awful shirts that Crenshaw's wife came up with , didn't get guys cold and wet..........but they remain the ugliest shirts in the history of the Ryder Cup.

It would have been an easy thing to make sure they had good gear. I outfitted groups going to places like McKinley , Patagonia , and the Himalayas for many years. I could have put them in the best stuff on earth with an unlimited budget.....and it would have looked good and kept them dry. Why didn't they , at least , put some kind of "press on" taping behind the stitching ? ( Heat sensitive glue type thing.)

Making mountains out of molehills i guess........but i was really struck with how stupid that was during that first morning . Keep da wife away from anything important....jaysus !

I was wondering if that was the problem. Seems like, from what I've seen, that ZR is the prefered raingear on tour.
