Starting in 2-3 hours, we're looking at maybe 20-24 inches of snow with 50 MPH winds. I can't wait. I have the cross country skis ready and the snowmobile ready.
I just hope the power stays on, here talking to you guys in case the power does go out.

I'd say I sympathize with you, but it's really not a concept I can grasp. Take care.

We were the ones that were supposed to bear the brunt of La Nina and it has been an average winter here. In a way I feel sort of cheated.

Things are good here. Lake Shore Drive is still closed, they had to remove a few dozen stranded cars, some people were in their cars for 10 hours or so. Some wind gusts off the lake hit 70mph last night with 20 foot waves. Now I really understand why the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank on Lake Superior.
As of mid last night, 56 miles of I-80 were closed in Illinois.
O'hare and Midway airports have no activity until at the earliest late this afternoon.
About 150k lost power, about 100k have been restored
About 20 inches of snow here. I don't know how they measure the stuff when you have 40-50mph winds. One spot may have 2 inches, walk a few feet and you're standing in 3 feet of snow. LOL
Tonight is suppose to get down to -15º with windchills down to -40º BBBbrrr.......

THibgs are back to normal here. This blizzard will be remembered as the one were hundreds of cars got stranded on Lake Shore Drive. This pick was taken 22 hours after the drive was closed and 7 hours after the snow stopped.

I like it ! Nothing like a really good blizzard to remind you that you are not in control. Snow coming in here today , but it's not -14 anymore. Good luck and stay warm and safe.

nuhips wrote: Would be worse if you had some real hills back there;-) LOL, very true. What actually got the traffic jam started was a big bus that slipped and started rolling backwards going up a very small hill (incline). Once the cars stopped moving due to the bus, then the snow and wind took over and the sitting traffic was doomed.
