Coast Guard officials in Florida say two NFL players are among four people missing in a boat they're searching for off the coast of Clearwater. Stu Schuyler, the father of one of the missing boaters, told WTSP in Tampa that he's "expecting the worst."
The Tampa Tribune and WXYZ-TV report the Coast Guard got a call at 1:30 a.m. ET this morning that a 21-foot boat carrying Lions DE Corey Smith (left) and Raiders LB Marquis Cooper had not returned as expected on Saturday evening.
Agent Ron Del Duca confirmed to the AP that Smith and Cooper were on the missing boat.
The boat set sail at 6:30 a.m. ET Saturday. The Coast Guard launched a rescue effort around 2 a.m. ET in a 750 square mile area.
