Hey Everybody, I used to visit this forum several years ago and remember how good everyone here was. Cobra was good enough to even offer me a job when I was laid off, GolferA1 was always a pleasure and Swingeasy was...I'm not sure how to describe him LOL

Anyway, I'm looking to swap my driver shaft out.

I'm currently hitting a 9* Tour Edge Exotic with an Aldila NV65g- Exotic Stiff. I love the head just I feel like I am overloading this current shaft, which I hear plays softer than most other models. Go figure a stiff in one club can actually be a regular or X in a different brand. I guess it helps sell more shafts when people have to experiment shaft to shaft.

As if it isn't hard enough if you have the right equipment.

A bit about myself. I have been foolishly working hard at killing the ball off the tee since I started this game. My clubhead speed typically hovers between 115-125mph.

Up until now I was hitting great drives by having a death grip on the club and swinging for the fences when my clubhead speeds are slightly down. I was hitting long drives with reasonable dispersion.

Somehow I came across this great idea of relaxing my arms throughout the swing. I never realised I was gripping so tightly till a golf instructor grabbed my forearms at address and told me "it's like you think someones trying to steal that club from ya". Of course, I'm a slow learner and never relaxed till 3 weeks later at the range.

Now I've been hitting balls at the range and all I do is concentrate on rotating my core and my clubhead speed is consistently higher at 123mph. Fundamentally I have a better swing coming from the inside and releasing naturally. Problem is I am hitting big hooks. BIG HOOKS.

My flight is still nice evn higher now than ever, the ball launches high and long but turns over maybe as much as 45yards. If i want to hit it straight, I have to get infront of it.

I think it'd just be easier to jump up to a stiffer shaft. I would of never considered X stiff until I read of LOTS golfers who generate alot less clubhead speed than I do playing X's.

Any shaft recomendations?

I'd really like something cool looking if possible.

I just don't wanna be spending all sorts of money and time swapping out shafts.

I really feel like my fullswing is as solid as it's gonna get and don't wanna make anymore changes.

Glad to hear from ya,,,,,,,,,, !!!! :D

As far as the shaft with your swing speed, I would hate to recommend a specific one but I would suggest looking into a Fujikara or Gaffaloy with that type speed. Might even want to step up to a XS with your speed.

Hope to see more post from ya. :D

WOW! I would hate to see anyone try to fit you a shaft over the DB. My recomendation would be to go to a good club fitter, that would have some different ones you could try. I know you will get recommendations from here and your friends...........what are friends for 8-) .............and maybe that would be a good place to start with the fitter. :D :D

My 2 cents.........have fun trying them out!

You would be best served with the shaft you picked...You have to learn how to swing it correctly.

I have replaced the shaft in my Taylor Made Burner Draw with a different shaft that promotes even more draw...and I have hit the ball much better.

Go with your original swing and work with it to produce the result you want.

Shaft technology has come a long ways since graphite has been introduced. You can get any shaft you want, although it may be expensive, depending on what shaft suits you.You don't need a really expensive shaft if your swing is good enough. :)
