We had a thread going a few months back about the greatest guitarists. The world lost one of the greatest, ever, today. Les Paul has passed away, at 94, from complications of pneumonia.

Where would today's music be, especially rock, had he not pioneered the solid-bodied electric guitar and multi-track recording?

With respect -
Tele

I saw some clips and he was still gigging every Friday night, with the likes of Steve Miller and Eric Johnson, in downtown NY, at 93! 8-)
Hell! If I'm still on top of the sod within 20 years of that - BONUS - never mind still playing astounding jazz guitar.
Be good!

The sad thing is That Michael Jackson was all over the news for several days and all Les got is a small by line on the evening news.
Some serious injustice there.

Later,

Do yourselves a favour and go on You Tube. Just search Les Paul and enjoy. There's stuff from the 50's, with his wife, Mary Ford, right up to gigs with Eric Johnson, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton - you name it. Ad I'll bet more have been posted now he's gone.
Cheers
Chuck
