From the Boeing Classic

From the Boeing Classic

O'Meara had an albatross on 18 during the pro-am on Wednesday.

Was standing by the practice chipping green when a lady in a wheel chair was parked next to me. About 5 minutes later Gary Player came up to her on his way to the range and spent about 2 minutes talking to her and complimenting her her on surviving so long.

On 14, the shot over the canyon, they moved the drinking club to the other side near the green. Probably to many giving those that didn't got for the green a bad time :o

A bit misty this morning, biggest thrill was telling people that parked in the caddie lot and somehow got a ride in that they were walking back

Watched about 7 groups on 9 today. A 207 par 3 over water. More birdies than bogies.

Deer run across the course and driving range every morning. Yesterday they came across 1 as the 2nd group was ready to tee off.

If you saw any of O'Meara keep loose for a possible playoff, I was the volunteer behind him, furthest right :D Hiding behind the shades 8-)

Got to talk to Roberts just before he boarded the private jet to Pebble. Yesterday I told him the rain would make the moss grow for him. It worked.

The contract with the course ran out as the last golfer left yesterday. Some question as to where the tourny will be held next year. But Boeing is still sponsoring for another 3 years.

A couple of other observations:

I hadn't noticed this before but when they came from chipping to the range, they started with some longer wedge shots. They would ladder the shots, most in about 5 yard incriments but some would work the ball about every yard. You could put a measuring device between the balls and there would only be a few inches differences in the balls. Very impressive.

The guy last alphabetically putted twice, no chips and socialized most of the time on the range and had his best round on Sunday. Go figure.
