We have a tav in this part of the city named Olde Pecuilar, pretty rough place from what I've read.

I've never seen a case of beer here for over $30, you guys are really bad up there. Have to pay for these winter games somehow :D

Their dollar is worth about 12-14 % less than ours ......i think. :? Even with that.....40 bucks for a case of Moosehead !!!! Time to load the rifle and march on Ottawa ! ........or at least Flin Flon . :)

I can get a case for about 24 dollars...................although the taxes are starting to take a bigger bite.

Saw an article yesterday saying that we have the most regressive tax system in the nation here in Washington. Sales, gas and sin bring in most of the $ which hurst the lower income people the most. Fat cats in charge sure aren't going to change that system the helps them.

Hey JJ
Our dollar has been rising while yours has fallen and we're actually about 5c apart. In fact, last summer the Loonie out-ranked the Eagle by a penny or two. It's just our punitive taxes here in the great white north.
Oh - and no point marching to Ottyway - nobody there - they're all at home in their snug little riding offices - read that to mean, "at the cottage/ski chalet". They just fly in for the house session and charge it up to us peon taxpayers! :x

<<The question is.............what in hell does any of this have to do with the Liambus hit on Fanelli.
I can't answer that......but i'll drink to a full recovery for Fanelli .........i'll drink a Moosehead. >>

Somehow, many threads seem to go sideways for a bit - or forever - no biggie so long as we're talkin' and havin' fun - right?!

Yikes.......you ARE paying too much for beer. Maybe that's a good thing......................although i don't know HOW that would be a good thing. :)

Your politicians cannot be any worse than ours. We are doomed...................but , for now we do have cheaper beer.

Our "leadership" is trying hard to catch up with the west coast . The poor and middle class take it on the chin while the "BMW" crowd throw parties for each other.

They must all go to the same cocktail parties in Aspen , Vail , and Castle Pines. I love it when the rich get hurt a little bit by their own machinery. Links Magazine just had the gall to run an article about Bobby Ginn in a recent issue. They were , actually , somewhat impressed by his personality , but did take the time to list a few the disasters he created for people who had their life savings sunk in his "developments." His name might be familiar to you guys. He had his name on several tournaments on three Tours at one time. He's one of the many Florida real estate crooks who prey upon people who got sold a pile of feces by guys like him. Mark Lye was one of the people who got sold a bill of goods by "good old boy" Bobby.

We have some of the same kind of golf course communities in Colorado. Several are hurting now. The painted up real estate ladies are having a hard time finding suckers and some of the golf courses are realizing that those 150-200 dollar green fees might have to be re-assessed. One couse closed for the season this spring. I drove in their parking lot four or five years ago to check out the course and an attendant was on me like paparazzi on Brad Pitt. He seemed to be very nervous that i might not have a tee time and that i was wearing ......of all things...jeans. ( I was not planning on playing.) He made it clear that this was a semi-private course (the worst kind) and that tee times were not available. I said that i just wanted to look around for a minute and he got even more nervous as he eyed my little red Honda Civic with disdain. I glanced around at the collection of Beemers , Mercedes , and giant brand new suvs , hoping to see SOMETHING close to my plebian mode of transportation......nothing. I smiled and strolled towards the clubhouse and gleaming fairways beyond. Nice place.............the course looked tight....and the people even tighter. Anyway........they didn't even open this season......i love it !!

It was hilarious when Renton Laidlaw had something to say about the expensive homes lining the fairways at that Dubai course ( Greg Norman course.) He said something like...." They are all very nice , but there doesn't seem to be anyone living in them." In that drool Scots accent.
Greg is getting plenty of "jobs" in Asia these days. I wonder how long it will take for those poor suckers to realize they can't afford him and the leeches that accompany his courses.

Don't know how i got on this ! Talk to you guys later.

It was very interesting being in Puerto Vallarta while the Looney was more valuable. But the money changers there were still giving more pesos for the dollar then the looney. Canadians were quite upset.

Might have been a bit of a left turn, JJ, but a very interesting and true point. Most knew, for a long time, this recession was coming. The sub-prime mortgage market melt-down was in the news for quite a while before the fit hit the shan yet people continued building high-end houses, high-end golf courses and buying high-end cars - you name it. And then C-R-A-S-H!!!!!!!!!!! We've got a couple of century-old investment houses go bust. If ya didn't see that one coming I have only one question, "Just how long have you been stupid?!"
So, tell me, Mr. CEO! What did dumping a hoard of battle-scarred and savvy middle managers in favour of a few wet-behind-the-ears MBAs get ya? Hmmm!
Admission - I was one of those grizzled middle-management veterans and downsized out of a Canadian bank 15 years ago. Nuff said.
Cheers
Chuck
