Charles Barkley never has a problem letting loose but he was at his Charles-being-Charles best while talking about Tiger Woods on 790 the Ticket in Miami.

What has Barkley most annoyed is the over-analysis of Tiger's apology. He also says he'll understand if Tiger can't take up again with some of his old friends. As for some of the media talking heads that have said Barkley might be part of Tiger's problem, well, Charles would like to punch their lights out.

You can hear the whole thing at SportsRadioInterviews.com, but here are the highlights:

On analyzing the Tiger apology:

"The reason that I hate that is because you've got all these idiots who come on TV or radio and try to tell whether you were sincere or insincere. It drives me crazy. They showed a poll today where 60-something-percent thought he was sincere and 40% thought he was insincere. Then you got a couple of these people -- ESPN, who I love to death -- bring these people on there, these body language experts, who say he's not looking at the camera and he's looking down at the paper. That's because he's reading it you damn idiot. The next time I screw up -- because human beings, we're all gonna screw up -- what I'm gonna do when I apologize, I'm just gonna start shooting the bird so people know whether I'm sincere or not."

On the possibility that Tiger may have to separate himself from some old friends:

"I think a lot of guys who have been there for him are not going to be his friend . . . I understand that. I guarantee you that I had no idea that this stuff was going on, but I understand when he's trying to make amends with momma he might have to quote-unquote excommunicate some friends. The most important thing is him getting his family back and his kids. That's by far and away the most important thing."

On ESPN's Erik Kuselias and Marcellus Wiley, and others, saying Tiger needs to stay away from Barkley:

"These guys are throwing me under the bus like I knew what was going on with Tiger and it pisses me off. In my old days I would just walk up to them and beat the hell out of them. But I'm trying to grow up and mature and not fight all the time."

I actually agree with Charles on most of this.

Chuck is entertaining. I think Tiger is not all that comfortable in front of cameras. He has very little regard for most of the media and it comes through , even when he is trying to convey contrition. I think he was trying to be sincere and i have doubts about body language "experts."

Hard to know what kind of relationship Tiger has with Charles. Would Charles Barkley be a "good" influence on a guy who was trolling Vegas for casual female companionship ? I'm sure there are people out there who know more about that. Cocktail waitstaff , hotel clerks , maids , and various posse members and hangers on. The "boys" all know what it was....we don't and won't.
What is there to "agree" with Chuck about ? He always resorts to his bully act when anyone questions him...even on air. The media overdoes everything , but so does Chuck. His act is wearing thin . Unfortunately ; it's an act that is replicated by an army of Barkley clones throughout the sports media.

The whole Tiger thing is getting boring. Just do it Woody !

I agree with your final statement, JJ. The whole thing has become a boring media circus. Whether you believe he is sincere really doesn't matter. Time, alone, is what will tell if he's willing to walk his talk. And if he does, the talking heads like Rick Cerrone will look like frickin' idiots for all their self-agrandizing rhetoric.
JMHO
Chuck

Tiger just comes across like a robot when interviewed or talking in front of a crowd. He has a hard time getting loose enough to show us some personality. It's not really a bad thing. I think he can come back from all this stuff , but it will never be quite the same.

He's a great player , and it is time to play again. The Masters would be a great start , but he may need a warm-up tournament. That would be Arnold's tournament , where he has a great record ( He has a great record , pretty much , everywhere.) and Arnold to smooth the way for him. Most people want to see him playing the game again....so ...play already.

Oh yeah....... and he should hire me as his new caddy . :)

Rumors are that he is going to play at Bay Hill, even Arnie thinks he will be there.

Also he has hired Ari Fleischer as a spin doctor. Ray Lewis, Pacboy, Kobe have been clients of his lately.

You heard it here first . I came out with it BEFORE it hit the news wires. :)

Tiger is way too selfish to miss the Masters. The tournament will be much more exciting with The Wooden One there. I'll be wishing his ball into Rae's creek and hoping SOMEONE can come out and beat him. Not very promising though..........no great players in this era.
Yeah......they hit it a long way and some guys dress funny ; but there are NO GREAT PLAYERS in this era except Tiger Woods. We have lots of Fred Couples kind of guys........talented.....big hitting......swaggering......but not great. Maybe that's the problem ; too many guys playing "good" golf for two or three to stand out and win major tournaments.

But....we've been over this before and nobody wants to talk golf on this DB.

Hmmmmm...Ari Fleischer.....Kobe....don't get me started ! Maybe Tiger "belongs" with that group of guys....... but i would like to think he has more class than a rapist piece of shit like Kobe.
We don't really care if guys are nasty pieces of garbage anymore. As long as they are winners.

Nice weather.....i have work to do.....maybe golf practice later.......jeeez...now i'm in a bad mood .........KOBE....I HATE FRUCKING kobe.

Can't wait for Tiger to return. I think he has done what he needs to do to get back on track. Anyway, that's between Tiger and his wife.
If they feel that he's ready to get back to golf and still be able to stay on track to be a better husband and father (a better man!) then so be it! Although I was very, very disappointed in his behavior, if his wife can forgive him so can I! LOL I'm just anxious to see him play again...=)

I think it's great that others have been able to win in his absence, but there's no doubt that he has a very positive influence on golf and for that I applaud him and wish him a speedy return to the PGA. I hope he doesn't wait until the Masters though! It's been long enough...=)
