I'm seriously interested in what makes Augusta continue to not allow women as members, from a male point of view. Are we that horrible to have around??

Here is a male point of view which is solely mine...No,you are not horrible to have around Augusta...and I myself wish they would host an LPGA Major there just to break the ice a little on that issue. The problem is they have such an exclusive membership there that is so hoity-toity that the members of that exclusive club would complain about anything involving women and Augusta in the same sentence. Billy Payne should put an end to this issue by inviting the LPGA to play a major there. It might not go over well with their members, but I would almost guarantee that the general public would be more than pleased, and I think that Bobby Jones would be too.

Nothing wrong with women. It's a private club and there are many women only organizations as there men only. I have no problem with that also. But like Dan said, I think it would go far for them if they hosted a Women's major or even change one of the WOmen's majors to the Women's Masters.

Well let's look and see what might be available as far as majors go.
Kraft Nabisco Championship...Nope...Not a chance
US Open:Now you are talking...Just imagine it...this course and the diabolical setup they had.
It would be very interesting to see how the best LPGA Tour players could handle a course like this.

There are no women only country clubs or golf courses that I am aware of. Yet no women are allowed as members of Augusta. No fair!
I would love to see the LPGA play a tournament there.

I would love to see the LPGA play a tournament there. Perhaps not in the US but, here in Canada, there is Toronto Women's Golf Club and men are not allowed- period! (And it's not some short little par-3/4 track - it's ranks up there with some of the best privates, some of which have hosted PGA Canadian Opens!) It was originally organized to couteract some of the men-only venues, like The National - who won't even allow female serving staff cuz men might be walking aroud in the all-together. But things have changed and, save for The National, virtually all other private clubs opened up many years ago to allow women as full members and not just the wives of full male members. Yet TWGC continues to bar men. Now - having said all that............... I think this men/women stuff is all BS! If you're a golfer with enough game to play a round within say, 4 hours, and know the game's unique ettiquet then, why should any place bar you? What possible difference can your gender make? I wondered if it might be a financial qualification issue because Augusta National can't be like belonging to your local country club. (Although - I've heard it's W-A-Y cheaper than you think!) But, there are more and more women who are captains of industry and PLENTY wealthy enough to afford it's membership. The one thing I have heard and read, over and over again, is that if you ask to get in, you won't - ever. You must be invited! And simply being filthy rich won't get you in. It's said Bill Gates wanted to join and was bluntly told by his advisors to, "shut up". Ultimately, he got in because of his incredible phylanthropic work. Could some potential women candidates have asked - or have had a lobbyist? No idea! Just blue skyin'.............. I'm convinced there will be a woman member of August National. It's just a matter of time. But Hootie Johnson, Billy Payne and their successors will do it on THEIR schedule - not one that's dictated to them special interest groups or by anybody else without the right to wear one of those green blazers. Now - will a woman play in The Masters? I'd love to see it but, ain't gonna happen in my lifetime! JMHO - Cheers Chuck

I don't have a problem with women not being invited as members of Augusta. It's obviously a men's private golf club that has elitest policies regarding membership. Women can have their own private golf club that has the same policies. They can generate their own " Masters " kind of tournament if that is what is needed for the LPGA. The LPGA has more than one "Major" that has almost no recognition as such from the average golf viewer. They are more tied to their sponsers for these tournaments. I can't even name them......The Nabisco....and , at least , one other that has no real cache. Having said that....I would not want to belong to a men's only club. Women look better .....smell better......and sometimes play better than the average beer swilling hacking dog male golfer. They also buy things in the pro shop and did i mention they LOOK better. Rich women.....start a private club today....it's a free country. You have the freedom to start a women only golf club. It's nice to be free. I don't play private golf anyway ! Lousy private club people.

Yes...this could be the case. All i know is ; i would not want to play from the tees they play on the PGA. The course would be fine from about 6500 yards.
