Bye Bye Lorena

Bye Bye Lorena

New postby RoyMcavoy on May 3rd, 2010, 8:06 am

She has played her last event for the near future. It was a shame no one was able to watch it. The LPGA is in big trouble and losing Lorena does not help. I wish her the best, it's too bad she lost that desire to compete at the highest level. Enjoy your family, the kids are only young once.

Wow ..hard to imagine they didn't get that tournament on the air. Was in on the air ???

I like Lorena...but she was only at the top of the women's game for a relatively short time. The television numbers for women's golf must be abysmal. It gets back to the fact that women just don't watch sports on television in large numbers. It does not help to lose a good and interesting player like Lorena , but the audience ( mostly men) was not there with or without her. The proliferation of Tours on the tube is another factor. Too much of a good thing ......PGA , Euro Tour , Senior Tour , Nationwide , and the LPGA....lots of golf on television. ( They even put that stupid celebrity tour on the networks ! ) Let's face it ; most of it is boring. Euro Tour....good in spots , mostly a colossal bore , but something to watch with your coffee in the morning. Champions...the big tournaments are good , but most are a snooze. Nationwide....you have to be kidding me...there must be some bowling on the other channel. The PGA Tour does not even capture my interest enough to watch more than , maybe , part of the Sunday round if i'm not doing something more interesting. ( Like playing.)
Then you have the LPGA.....when IT'S ON , THAT IS. Too many Korean players on the leaderboard that i just can't identify. Just when i am getting to have some kind of notion whom a certain player may be......she disappears , and a new player takes her place for a few tournaments and then the cycle keeps repeating. I just don't have enough interest to want to sort them all out and.......i'll say it......THEY ARE BORING ! Good ; but , mostly , really boring to watch on tv. They have some star power with Creamer , Wie , the big Nordic chick , and several veteran players. Some excellent young players are coming along , but they are not on the tube when they are in the hunt. ( this week)
I know...i'm a Nazi... but off the top of my head ; i can't name the best Korean player on the LPGA. SURE ; I COULD GOOGLE IT AND BECOME AN INSTANT EXPERT , BUT , OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD , I HAVE NO CLUE ! I will guess...SHIN ? One of the Kims ?? Are there any Parks playing these days ? If there are four of five Korean women in the top 10 in the world....i can only name Shin....the chunky girl with the glasses. Is this a problem ? I don't know...maybe.
Now , i have to go. We re burning a cross tonight. :)

Pretty soon it will be the KPGA, several tournaments have already moved to Asia.
