SILVIS, Ill. (AP) — PGA Tour rookie Matt Every has denied possessing marijuana following his arrest at an Iowa casino two days before playing in a tournament.

Every shot a 1-under par 70 in the first round of the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill., on Thursday.

He was among three men arrested Tuesday in a room at the Isle Casino Hotel in nearby Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Scott County Jail. He was freed Tuesday night after posting bond.

In a statement released by his management firm, Every apologized for showing poor judgment but denied having any marijuana in his possession. He said he pleaded not guilty.

Every's agent, Kevin Canning, declined further comment.

I doubt that he is innocnet like he claims.

That he had nothing else to do to entertain himself...

Yeah, I guess, even though there is a casino where he was staying. But yeah, take the riverboars out of Iowa and it's oring. IMO
