"I am thinking the same thing, in about 3 years I may retire. Looking around Pinehurst, and several other areas in NC. My sister in law lives in Apex."

Not sure where Apex is, Pinehurst would be a wonderful area. One thing I did I went to Weather.com and created a page and they let you put in like 5 cities to monitor, I watched for about a year or so to get a feel for the temperatures and weather. I will have to try to steer my group to the Pinehurst area for one of our trips, wonder how hard it is to get on #2? :)

Well, depends on how you book it. I would suggest not going through the Pinehurst Lodge that sky rockets the price but it is nice to do it once. There are lots of different agents for that area and nice condos to stay in. Last year if I recall right #2 was $235.00 to play. Talamore and others have great deals for the courses in that area.

You know, $235 is not that bad for #2. A lot of the so called "top" courses in Myrtle are close to that without the historical significance. We just may have to look into Pinehurst. It would be a lot of fun to play #2, I Love Donald Ross courses. On our trip to Myrtle, we stop in Lumberton and play PineCrest, which is a muni, but a Ross design. It is a great little course and a fun play.

I've also played Del Ray Beach, which is another Ross Design in Florida near where my daughter lives. I drive up and play that one every time I visit. I usually play his layouts pretty good, and I think they are fun.

I would agree, its not a really high price for that course at all. IMO, it would be a good idea just to look at Pinehurst and compare what the difference in the trips are that you all make. As stated, its a great place and "Lots" of courses to play.

If I remember correctly, going through Lumberton was a "Speed Trap" driving through !!!! :D :D

Never had a problem, except one year in SC, we were almost late for our tee time. A ticket, but we still made it. One in 5 years is not too bad.

That's a good thing then !!!! I had heard several years back those folks didn't play around on I-95 in that section.

I guess I can laugh about it now............but going in we had a 24 pack of beer setting up, opened, and the coolers full. It was like 9:45 in the morning, and we were heading to the course.

Well we got pulled and the trooper came back up to the drivers window and asked me to get out, which I did and walked around to the back of the van. He walked up and then asked the passenger to roll down the window and stuck his head inside the van, trying to smell beer. Well 9:45 is JUST a little early, and at the time, I had no clue what he was doing.

SC does have an open package law, that would have nailed me if one had been opened in the van.
