I have become a Sergio fan in the last few years. He has shown game and toughness time and time again. He was very classy in defeat and i admire his game . Westwood brought some of that stuff on him by overreacting to Boo on the first day. He has obviously played too many rounds with Monty. I don't like players pointing at patrons and asking that they be ejected. That should be reserved for the most egregious incidents only. There is a small minority who think everyone wants to listen to their booming voices at a golf competition , but it's part of bigtime golf now. Monty would throw the entire gallery out if he could get away with it. It's really too bad he didn't qualify for this Cup. I'm certain there would have been some interesting incidents , with the rabbit ears he has displayed over the years. Westwood evidently felt it was up to him to keep that Monty spirit alive. Not that i agree with the gallery getting on players , but if you read the history of The Open in the early years , you will find some really nasty stuff being pulled on players such as Old Tom Morris. Personally i would never partake in this kind of thing.........but guys like Monty deserve some what they try to dish out. Westwood should have dispensed with the "stare" , because it only got the crowd in a hostile mood towards him . I find it an interesting and , even , a somewhat welcome addition to a big matchplay event. It adds a little spice to the proceedings and gets the fires stoked. I'm thinking some guy called him an SOB............gee that's terrible. He obviously has never played hockey. That would be a compliment from a hockey crowd. He WAS an SOB. He really didn't even have a gripe when he started that stuff. The crowd was pretty tame by past RC standards in my opinion. Much ado about nothing.

JJ Man, You're on a roll, Let it all hang out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-}
Right up until the last post. What happened, you pop a Lude? :-}
If TGC was a real "Golf" channel they'd pull the tapes from the last several cup matches and pull the worst incidents from each. That'd be a report worth seeing. I don't think it would open anyones eyes, just show the truth.
Westwood has a long way to go before he'll even be compared to the likes of that pompous windbag Monty. Monty has elevated whining to an art form.
Faldo said he rested Sergio because he was a bit tired. WTF is that? 30 years old with a gazillion bucks in the bank the only way I don't play all the matches is if I'm banging the entire cart girl crew the night before. And even then I'm gonna answer the bell. Sergio is turning into a wimp on us.
I love the roasting that Faldo is getting now. he won't have to worry about screwing up his TV schedule in 2010. :-]

Later, AS IF !!!!!!!! I suppose the Euro crowd has not indulged in a choice remark or two over the years. I found that stare from Westwood to be , almost , comical. He has that round merry face that does little to convey the kind of enmity he was going for out there. Better to rattle change or walk in guys through-line like Seve , or just keep up an incessant stream of grumpiness , like Monty. I thought these guys were so fit and ready for competition. It was obvious Faldo was trying to throw a curve in the line-up to get things going , but you don't sit a guy who competes like Sergio. You never know how a match will go though........it's a tough call to know if a guy is going to go out there and sink some bombs for a win. You know...that cart girl thing sounds like a novel idea. Maybe he DID bang the entire cartgirl team !!! I really can't see that Faldo could have made a move that would have resulted in a different outcome. The USA Team made the putts and put the pressure on when they needed it. The golf was extremely well played by both teams. I drool over the ability these guys have on a golf course. I did not do a lude and get in thee nude.........the coffee just wore off ! JJ

I'm sure he could have had the entire cart girl crew if he wanted to, remember it is Kentucky, he'd have to watch out for their brothers and cousins. :-}
