At least he went quick and hopefully with no suffering.
Two stories I heard about him: He was here for the Open at Sahalee and one of the drivers went to pick him up. He said he came out and his face looked like it lost a fight with a lawnmower, t p all over it. He had never heard of a steptic penm so the drive took him to a drug store and got one for him.
The other is from Jesper P. They were playing together and we all know how Seve is renowned for his saving ability. This day he would hit it into the woods and find his ball in an almost perfect lie. He would come close to a hazard, find an obstruction and get a drop and it went like this all day. Finally late in the round, both hit drives in the rough and Jesper got to the balls first. There was a sprinkler head near the ball so he got in various stances and asked Seve if he could get a drop from an elongated stance, hitting left handed and any other way he could think of. Seve replied 'No drop" to all of them. Jesper replied " great, this is your ball!"

Rest In Peace, Seve.
He was Europe's Arnold Palmer, a charismatic player who made everyone want to be him and take up the game. And he was Europe's Jack Nicklaus, just head & shoulders a better player. *AND* he was, IMHO, the most important player in the history of the Ryder Cup.

Very sad.....he was one of the greats. A guy that made the game more interesting for golf fans everywhere. Makes me feel very mortal......i'm two years older than him.
