The Countdown to Solheim Cup points.

The Countdown to Solheim Cup points.

New postby DanG650 on July 26th, 2009, 9:17 am

Through the 2009 Evian Masters,we all knew who was on the bubble and who was on the outside as far as points are concerned, and now that both Natalie and Michelle both finished in the top 30 in this event, how will that affect the point standings?...I really don't understand how this point system works, and I could use anyone's help here.

Does Michelle's placing in this event(T-23) give her enough points to knock somebody out?...No,she is still out of the top ten,but she did move up a few spots,to maybe 12th or 13th.

Natalie picked up much needed points here, and should secure a spot next week with a strong showing.

I am assuming that finishing in the top 30 meant points towards this...Am I wrong? :)

I believe next week's points also count double so that could change things quite a bit.

Rank Player Points
1 Paula Creamer 769.5
2 Cristie Kerr 693.5
3 Angela Stanford 573.0
4 Nicole Castrale 314.0
5 Brittany Lang 301.5
6 Morgan Pressel 277.0
7 Kristy McPherson 276.0
8 Christina Kim 255.0
9 Brittany Lincicome 250.0
10 Natalie Gulbis 201.0
11 Laura Diaz 177.0
12 Stacy Prammanasudh 170.0
13 Pat Hurst 164.0
14 Juli Inkster 152.0
15 Jane Park 141.0
16 Michelle Wie 133.5
17 Wendy Ward 132.5
18 Meaghan Francella 117.5
19 Irene Cho 90.5
20 Allison Fouch 84.0

Well for right now, Natalie would be in. As for Wie, I don't know if I would pick her, since she still has not shown us anything special since early in the year. IMO YOu have a few long time veterans that you can add to the team instead. (ex. Diaz, Inkster, Hurst)

I think the Americans will do well in this one,but it might be a close overall result.

If the younger players play well enough on both sides, this could be a very exciting Solheim Cup to watch.I'm looking forward to watching it. :)
