<<If you ever want to visit Colorado and play some pond hockey in winter , let me know.>>
I love Colorado..............
In fact, I spent almost the entire summer of '07 in Denver. We did a big point of sale system deployment for Shane Co. - I can still hear Tom Shane's voice on those radio commercials.
The altitude damned nearly killed me the first couple weeks. Gotta remember - I'm originally from Toronto which is about 150ft above sea level (what's Denver - about 6100???) and my current home town is, maybe, 250 higher. Southern Ontario is pretty flat - and close to sea level.
Anyway, we'd fly down on Monday morning and back home, to Toronto, on Friday afternoon. They had a long flight of steps up to the front door of their HQ and walking up those with my laptop case over my shoulder would almost completely wind me - and I've got pretty good cardio and aerobic. Even at 61, I can still easily walk and carry for 36 holes in a day. Until my body finally got used to the constant altitude changes I'd get raging headaches the 1st day there and the 1st day back home. Worse the first day there. An American colleague of our company who is a resident of Colorado ( I think Grand Junction) explained that the headaches were from dehydration so I should drink lots of water - yeah! Right! Then pee every 10 minutes 'cuz my system isn't used to the altitude and is dumping fluids. Body finally got used to it and it was all good. Loved the time there.
All that said, I'd absolutely be blown away to have a chance to play hockey on a mountain lake/pond. I just wonder if I could take the aerobic stress without doing a face plant in a snow bank somewhere.
We built a really good relationship with Shane and it's possible we could be invited back there if they do something new. If it happens I'll definitely let you know. If even for a brew - or two.
Be good!
Chuck

Denver is a mile high......5,280 feet. The altitude can be a problem for flatlanders. You would probably have some problem up at over 9,000 feet on the pond. ( Thankfully ; there is a bar 150 feet from the ice ! ) I got altitude sickness once in my life while backcountry sking. It took everything i had to ski out that time.

I play an obscure golf course that is out in the vicinity of the airport outside Denver. ( Inexpensive and not bad if the conditions are good.) I could meet you for a drink out in that area or we could even play some golf if the timing was right....you never know.

That's what i play...beer league. Actually ; ADVANCED BEER LEAGUE.........advanced only in the sense of the beer......we are very good at drinking the beer , but not so good at hockey. :)

I usually drink Moosehead or Molson Canadian at the hockey bar. ( Moosehead is better.) Most of the guys drink some kind of micro stew , but that stuff gives me heartburn. There are some ales that i like , but Harp Lager and Moosehead are my favorite beers these days. I enjoy a Guinness or two in the winter season.

Not a beer snob...........................i'll drink a Coors if somebody hands one to me.......ya gotta problem wid dat ? :)

Hey, free beer is good  Moosehead is good stuff, Guinness is a little to strong for my tastes.

Darn right Moosehead is good beer. Comes from where my son-in-law is from. New Brunswick. It's from St. John in the south of the province. He's a "Frenchie" from Caraquet (pronounced "kara-KETT") on the north shore near Labrador.
I like Guinness but I agree with you, Hips. Even though I tend to favour darker, strongly flavoured British style beers, Guinness is just too heavy. You can damned nearly slice it as it comes out of the bottle. Good party beer, though, when you have to drive..........or just want to make sure you stay in control.........like the company Christmas party and all the exec are there? ;) It's only 3.5 or 4%, like a light beer, and so heavy you can only stand a couple. Sort of reminds me of a beer from around Hips' neck 'o the woods - actually Portland - Arrogant Bastard. Different flavour - EXTREME hops - but it's about 8% and ya can only stand one - maybe two if you were already half cut.
Cheers
Chuck

Whole different deal when ya got a hockey stick in your hands! Without a stick, it's an exaggerated walking motion. Arms move opposite to the feet, in the line of travel. Add a hockey stick - now your arms have to move perpendicular to your feet - across your body. Whole new dynamic that takes time to master. Of course, for us Canucks, it's in our genes and comes naturally. :P Sorry! Couldn't resist.
Take care
Tele

Rogue makes Arogant Bastard and located on thr coast in Newport, have been there often  Time to find some of the strong winter brews. Another good dark beer is Moose Drool from Missoula and Black Butte Porter from Bend.

Have to try Moose Drool - with such a disgusting name it's gotta be good.
Was introduced to Black Butte when we did the WSLCB project. I was paired with one of their techies who was a Micro fan, like me. (Gee - d'ya think my boss had that in mind when he and the WSLCB project lead made up the teams?????)
