I was expecting something critical from you, but I'm very glad to see that you will give the guy a chance too see if he can back up the talk. We all are far from perfect and most of us don't have to face our problems in front of a worldwide stage. If he can fix the marriage, live a moral life and change his negative parts of his on course behavior, that would be wonderful. Imagaine how good of golf he can play while not having to ocver up an entire second life that he was living.

Kevin..... I responded to your post in the other thread and i agreed with your points. My take on Tiger was always that he was too high on his horse. In the spirit of extracting some responses i have been overly critical of him , but i have always had enormous respect for his game and i think i "wanted" to like him . Maybe i can become a Tiger Woods fan. I was moved by his talk today and i hope it all works out. Life is tough sometimes....for all of us. JJ

Hi folks
I saw the whole thing on CNN and then went channel hopping for all the different takes. CNN absolutely trashed him - or at least one of their call-in analysts, Rick Cerrone, the PR director for the Yankees did. Called it a PR disaster. He picked it apart, word-by-word. And beat him up for expressing anger with the tabloids/paparazzi for tracking his daughter and publishing the address of her pre-school; propagating the rumor that Elin beat on him with a golf club. I'd be some pissed at them for that, too. Other stations, some Canadian, some American, felt he was sincere despite it being highly orchestrated and contrived.
My personal take is this - OK, maybe he didn't use all the PC wording some people might demand but I felt he acknowledged and is now owning his failures and, for the 1st time, using words like infidelity, cheating and affairs. For me, one of the more important things that he said was that he mistakenly felt, after all his hard work and dedication to get where he was, he felt a sense of entitlement. And that with his wealth and fame he could get away with whatever he did - but that was wrong. I don't care what all the tall foreheads and pundits want to say about the whole thing - that's a pretty self-effacing admission in front of millions of people, never mind the friends, business associates and his mother gathered in that room. Did Bernie Ebbers, Ken Lay, Conrad Black, or any of those other corporate scoundrels ever admit to the immense sense of entitlement they so obviously displayed? Yeah - right!
I have one final thought and then I'm gonna shut up. He's been widely criticized for this being scripted and not taking questions. Well - he made it clear that the remedies are strictly between him and Elin (and, I guess, his therapist) and he WILL NOT discuss it in the media. I'm sure, had the sports and main-stream media been allowed to ask questions, most of those would have been quasi-respectful. But there would be many that were purely salacious and tabloid in nature. I don't think I need to elaborate ..... It's nobody's goddam business who he screwed and on what date and where was Elin! Give the man and his family space to work this out and get past it - if they can. If they can't, we'll know in due course.
My 2c Chuck

Nice post Chuck.
The only people that seemed to beat him up were people in the media, oh well!! Some guy from Extra was being interviewed and was asked when do you cross the line in regards to Elin and the kids? His reponse, "when we cross it". He also blasted Tiger as being arrogant, but this guy (especially after the crossing the line comment) was the most arrogant jerk that I've heard in quite some time.
AS with the questions that were not allowed. I never had a problem with no questions, because just about all of those questions would have been directed towards the stuff Tiger said he was keeping private. Tiger already answered the steriods stuff and golf timetable stuff in his speech. I dunno what else would have been asked.

You know....those guys and the Golf Writers Assoc are indeed a bunch of dolts. The Golf Writers opted NOT to cover the largest story in Golf, about the #1 player in the world. Even though the story borders on tabloid stuff IMO, I can't understand what they hope to gain from this. Do they really think Tiger will give them anything at a later date? Do they think they changed anything?
All they did IMO, is to let other news agency's cash in on the story......and lose the support of their base! These guys that are bashing him......what are they thinking......they are trying to become the story! I don't condone the things he did....but for them to come out and publicly bash.....well let the first one that has never done wrong cast the first stone!
What a bunch of dolts!
