I was watching the LPGA on TV a couple of weeks ago and one of the commentators on the golf channel was talking about Natalie, and how many outside business interests she had, and were those interests interfering with her golf, and contributing to her lack of wins.

It struck me as such a double standard, never heard commentator comment on any of the male golfer's outside business interests.

Just thought it would make for an interesting discussion here.

It's hard to tell for Natalie. I would assume most people in her case would have their own people doing the day to day handling of those interests.

As for the men, I have heard in the past, specifically as recent as last year's open championship talk about Greg Norman as his business dealings were casuing him to have little time for his golf game. Even years back, you would hear the same thing about Jack. I have also heard from commentators about other current golfers and thier outside interests, but nothing about how it may be affecting his play.

Not sure I would call it a double standard, I have heard them talk about the men as well. Might be a way to kill dead air time.

I feel better knowing there have been similar comments made about the male golfers. The commentary during the LPGA tournaments is pretty lame, come to think of it!! ;)

Well ya may have hit on something. The "commentary" for both are getting pretty lame depending on who is announcing.

I, for one, think outside business interests (specifically, course design) is why Ben Crenshaw has done so poorly on the Senior Tour. I've read a lot of good things about his courses, and if that's where he wants to spend his time, power to him. But IMHO it's foolish for a prime time player, male or female, to let outside business interests get in the way of practice, competition, and winning.

Crenshaw also went through some tough family times after turning 50. Some one or ones in the family died of cancer.
I wonder if he collects courtesy car keys? He almost left here with 2 that I know of.
