Woods - a no brainer. Its obvious he has been trying to fix his game and cares.

Johnson - been very consistent, great team player and putter

Cink - Not so sure about that one. Has been off most of the year, very subpar ryder cup record

Fowler - Not so sure about this one either. He has not had a top 30 since the open championship. He is not hot, why is he on this team.

Should be JB Holmes and ?????

Agree with Woods & Zach Johnson. Johnson, as you say, can flat putt, and that's always a welcome thing in match play. Obviously, Pavin thinks Fowler is ready for the big time, based on what he's done for the year as a whole. I don't think there will be a middle ground, he'll either thrive or collapse. Cink, to me, hasn't shown a lot this entire year. I dislike Holmes just because he's a terribly slow player, but he certainly wouldn't be put off by the Euros and their slow play tactics. If I tried to squeeze my size 13s into the captain's shoes, I would have very seriously considered Anthony Kim. Based on how he undressed Garcia & Allenby in consecutive years, I think he gets it - he wants to win for U S A. I would have asked him if his thumb is healed enough to play five matches if necessary, and if his game is close enough to get the final razor's edge in the next three weeks. The long layoff hurt his game (& standing on the points list), maybe he's just not ready, but he could still help the team as an assistant, like Sergio is going to do for the Euros.

The Fowler , to me, seems like getting your future qb some good game time. It may not pay off this year but hopefully down the road it will. Cink has lots of experience in these things but is very inconsistant. But don't know who I would choose to replace him. Kim sure hasn't played well after returning so I don't see him filling that 4th slot either. Phil sure can't be counted on to be the anchor for this team the way he has played lately. Will be an interesting few days of matches.
It was interesting to see how many of the Seniors out here still use their Ryder or President's Cup bags. Lack of a bag sponsorship?

I don't recall which writer said it but he was saying that a great showing by Tiger could restore him to his idol status again. All would be forgiven, the sponsors would flock back (along with all the chicks). Thoughts?

<snip> would flock back (along with all the chicks). <snip>

I could walk into any bar on this planet, say "Hi, I'm pcb_duffer, and I'm worth about $500,000,000." and the chicks would flock.

Why woods? its about who is playing good right now isnt it. it seems to me he has really never been enthused about playing in the ryder cup. but i did hear on golf central the other night that if Pavin didnt pick woods the pga of america would lose millions of dollars. So you knew that was going to happen. AK just hasnt shown much since he came back from surgery. i agree he would make a good cheerleader for the team. Cink again what has he done lately? I thought the captains usually who picks the guys are are playing really well. Zack Johnson fits that bill. the other 3 do not. i just have my doubts about how this team is going to do over there. We will see i guess.

Zero represents nothing, so what's nothing between friends, right?

Although I've had some ladies tell me that I'm a zero...

Woody is a money pick and he is starting to get his game back , so he HAS to be on the team. Zach was picked for his blade and demeanor , but he has a tendency to disappear at times. Cink must have something on Pavin. He's a fellow "God guy" like Pavin , so maybe that's it.......but he would seem a bad pick on paper. Ricky Fowler could be a star on this team ....or struggle ....but , thankfully , he has to dress in the team colors. ( That bright orange thing is starting to get on my nerves.)
Anthony Kim should be left off and has not earned enough cache to be an assistant.

I like Ricky Barnes over Cink ......or maybe Bo Van Pelt.......or even Ben Crane. ( Now , of course , Cink will win all his matches.)

Matchplay........so anything can happen. The Euros have just as many guys playing lousy golf right now as we do. It will come down to making the big putts....or not making the big putts.
