2009 US Open

2009 US Open

New postby RoyMcavoy on June 16th, 2009, 8:45 am

It is here finally. My personal favorite of the 4 majors.

Let's hear about who will win. Should not be hard since the so called experts keep telling us that only 10 or people can win it this year.

Of course Tiger skyrocketed as the heavy favorite after winning at the Memorial and showing us that he may be able to hit almost all of the fairways due to smart choices as to when to use the driver and a change in loft to the driver. If his putting is on, this is a one man race.

Phil -??? Still a wildcard in a major (excuse the pun) way. Were will his head be. He will have tremendouse support from the New Yorkers, but will that help him or make him too emotional to play the golf that is needed to contend this week? We will see

Sergio - I put him on my list, because he seem to be always on his game during majors regardless of how he has played in the prior weeks. He likes Bethpage (the course) based on performance last time it was here, but I don't think he cares too much for the New Yorkers. At least he won't be regripping 50 times before each swing.

Ogilvy - one of the contenders that will be in the hunt

Harrington - I don't see him contending this week

Vijay - Don't see it for him.

DLIII - He is my dark house that will be hangin around the leaderboard everyday this week.

Casey - nope!! To be honest, Sergio is the only European that seems to have a chance in the US Open.

Stenson - See Casey

Furyk, Striker, Perry - nope for all 3 of them.

IS there even 10 that can win this?

Tiger has to be the favorite, now I wouldn't count out Furyk, Harrington or Casey.

I've been unable to watch an Of TGC this week, so I have not heard any reactions of how Bethpage is setup or anything. COuld someone give us an update of what talk is going around Bethpage about the course. Is is going to be as brutal as last time? (I hope so, but I doubt it)

They are talking about the weather....that is the big issue and just how Mike will set it up. They are speculating that it will not be set to full length any day. They are concerned that the forecast is calling for an inch or more in rain and some of the low lying holes by one of the creeks.

Between the weather and Phil that is all they are talking about............

As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.
It is only a Game..........Have Fun!!
