I know I'm REAL late chiming in on this one - didn't see it before - sorry!
You mention a bunch of really good Canadian bands and as a Canadian I can offer a little input here.

April Wine was never a favourite of mine and I really don't know what happened to them after they fell off the charts. That said, I seem to remember seeing that they are still playing small venue gigs as a nostalgia act.

Doubtful Triumph would ever re-unite. Rick Emmett (guitar) has a serious solo career in jazz, classical and writing. Gil Moore (drummer) owns Meadowrocks Studios in Mississauga, just west of Toronto. It's a major recording studio and there are several A-list acts, including The Stones, who record or do their final mix-downs there. It's an unsigned place in an industrial plaza in the heart of a manufacturing area of Mississauga and you can't find it if you don't know where to look. Moore wants it that way so big acts don't get bothered.

With the exception of Randy Bachman, I think most of BTO has retired.

Guess Who - occasionally Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings get back together for concerts although, it's not the full band. There is a DVD that came out a couple of years ago (I have it) called Running Back Thru Canada with Burton and Randy doing an outdoor concert in Guess Who's home town, Winnipeg - complete with a nasty thunder storm that interrupts the concert. You might be interested in checking it out.

Cheers
Chuck

The one band I'd love to have seen more of was KGB - all guys from Paul Butterfield's various bands. Steve Kennedy, Barry Goldberg, Nick Gravenities and Michael Bloomfield. Unfortunately, Mike Bloomfield died several years ago of a heart attack induced by years of taking sleeping pills to counteract chronic insomnia so - it can't happen!
The world lost one GREAT guitar player. (Who says a nice, white, Jewish kid from a nice Chicago suburb can't play the blues?)

Man - are you ever right about the years going by................
Now I can really date myself - I remember going to high school dances, in the Toronto suburbs, to see David Clayton Thomas and The Shays. I was more interested in seeing Freddie Keilor - his guitar player, and a great one. Of course, DCT is a Toronto boy who went on to front Blood Sweat & Tears on such hits as Spinning Wheel, And When I Die, You've Made Me So Very Happy and a host of others...................

Hmmm! Tough one 'cuz my music tastes are rather eclectic. The only stuff I hate and refuse to listen to is Rap/Hip Hop. Can't get to the radio button quick enough when it comes on. I guess on an on-going basis I'd have to say Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Their playing is SO far beyond that of regular guys, like me, it's kind of like comparing Tiger's shot making to a 15 handicapper. Other stuff I've been enjoying over the last year or so ......
Alicia Keys' As I Am CD
Gwen Stefani
John Mayer's Continuum (this guys is one Hell of a guitar player .... can shred with the best of 'em when he stays away from pap like Your Body Is A Wonderland
Pink - great writer and I love her "tell it like it is" edge. Dear Mr President is a great example and so is Stupid Girls
Christina Aguilara's Back To Basics CD is excellent.

There's lots more but this kind of gives you a snap shot.
Cheers
Chuck

And one more important one I forgot to mention - Great Big Sea. Part of my heritage. My Mom was from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia so I come by my love of Canadian Celtic music naturally and Great Big Sea is among the best.

One other thing - I mentioned John Mayer in the previous post. Look on YouTube and search on John Mayer. There's a clip of him with Eric Clapton it's the only one on there and runs 4:04. They're doing Crossroads and it shows John's ability quite well. You'll also notice his Strat looks like a kid's toy on him ................. Mayer is HUGE ............ something like 6'7". Clapton is 6'1" and Mayer towers over him.
Enjoy
Chuck

Been meaning to ask.............
How do you manage to copy somebody's post and put it in a window? I usually just highlight it, copy it, and paste it into my reply in <<>> brackets. Doesn't matter either way, I guess, but yours is the much neater way to do it..............
