Thought i'd start a new thread about players male or female that have disappeared from leaderboards.......OR....appeared on leaderboards the past couple of seasons. Probably won't last long in here , what the hell.

I'll start the ball rolling with......MIKE WEIR !?!?!?..........WHAT IN HECK GO ON WIT WEIRSY ?

I think he has missed every cut this season after playing like sheit last year. He was pretty dang good for several years there. Masters Champion and a guy on da board in most tournaments he entered for years. He was one of my favorites a few years ago , but can't break an egg right now. You have to wonder what happens to a player of his stature......maybe just the game of golf......golf happens. Hope he can come back around before he plays himself off the Tour. Has that Masters thing going for him though......he'll have at least one place to play.

On the other side of the coin.......for the last two seasons MATT KUCHAR would be my pick for the guy who has gone from struggling to get in tournaments to one of the best players in the world. He needs to play better on Sunday , but he has been as consistent as any player out there.

Those are two players going in different directions right now , but there are some others. Who are your .."What's Goin On With " players ?

I know.....stupid thread......we could talk about Tiger.......or maybe....John Daly.....i think he had some ugly pants on the other day....he's so funny in those ugly pants. :0)

Stewart Cink. Still rated in the top 50 last I looked and never seems to be around on Sunday. A local, sor t of, kid, Alex Prugh. Had a very good first season on the tour last year and is doing nothing this year.
The rags to riches story has to be Tommy Gainey@!

Even though he has not fallen off the radar completely and is still ranked 54th, Padraig Harrington worked so hard to reach the pinnacle of golf and win some majors. Ever since winning his third major back in 2008, to go along with his other two majors, 11 Euro wins and 2 PGA wins, he has not won a tourney anywhere. He had finally figured it all out, how to win majors, how to beat Tiger etccc...... His game which has not faltered badly based on a still solid world ranking has dropped a good one stroke in his scoring average since the good days. His is never there on Sunday afternoon in contention, he is never a factor in majors anymore and he is never talked about. WHen was the last time any of us even picked him to be on your fantasy golf team?

My up and comer is a USA younger player who I never heard really being talked about. He is 26, has two 2nd place finishes, 4 top 10's and has only missed 2 cuts this year. He will soon break through and win. HIs stats are all better than the tour average, but none of them in the TOp 10 either, except for his scoring average which is ranked 6th. This tells me that this cat is one consistent player who is ready to break through. Forget Fowler, Johnson, Watney, Mahan, Kuchar, Moore, Haas, Watson, etc...... Webb Simpson is the USA up and comer player.

Justin Leonard has fallen a long way, hope he crashed into his inflated ego on the way down.

Cink is one of those guys that pops up every so often. You're right.....never seems to be on anyone's radar , but a pretty good player . Alex Prugh was on my radar for awhile , but can't play dead this year. Usually a guy's putting is the reason......but in Weir's case .........it seems to be his whole game !

Tommy Gainey reminds me of a guy i occasionally play golf with .....who swings at every ball like he's trying to kill an alligator about to take his leg off ! This guy is a pretty good player though.....you have to shoot in the 70's to beat him....he makes every darn putt he looks at. He even LOOKS a bit like Tommy !

Some good thoughts on Padraig . I consider myself a Padraig fan ....i think i may have picked him somewhere along the line in fantasy this year. He just seems to have BLOW-UP holes this year. He's almost John Dalyian sometimes. He could come back to life before the season is over.

Webb Simpson just continues to play great golf and shows up on the leaderboard in most of his starts. At the start of this season you would have had to say.....Webb WHO ?????????? He will be Ryder Cup material next time.

I think we forget what egomaniacs these guys can be. They all have that face they show in interviews....." I'm just a regular guy that plays golf for a living and loves my wife and kids ...and America too." When the cameras and crowds are not around , they can be anything but that average guy they like us to think they are. I think you have made a reference or two yourself Hips..........in your travels during tournaments.

I was out practicing last week at one of the better courses in the area. I was on the putting green , when i could not help but notice a group of twenty somethings arrive at the practice tee. ONE GUY was going out of his way to be loud and obnoxious with every swing. I chalked it up to a bunch of guys out to have a good time...no problem ; but this guy seemed to be SOOO in love with himself. They were all , obviously , very good golfers by the way they were striking the ball. The other three guys were much more subdued , given the proximity to the first tee and other players warming up. Not asswipe though...loud and obnoxious would be a kind way to describe his "thing."
I was finishing with a few pitch shots on the pitching green when a ball plunks on the green not far in front of me. I look around and this clown is hitting long flopshots from the practice tee onto the pitching green....over the place where guys use the ball machine and get water. I was officially irked , but resisted any kind of comment. Just walked out and retrieved my aged ProV's while his balls were raining around me and walked away. I could see , at a glance , that his friends were a little embarrassed by this twit and his bad behavior. I didn't want to be the cranky older guy , so i just ignored the prick. They announced his group on the first tee a few minutes later , and i recognized his name . His father is a head pro at a Colorado course and a regular in the Colorado Open and , i think , even played in the PGA Championship once or twice. I guess the moral of this boring story is.....if THIS guy is that much of a shit...what are the guys on the PGA Tour like ? Can't paint everyone with one brush though.

Back to the subject........how about Anthony Kim ? WOW......talk about going from golden to nowhere. Apparently has a thumb injury though. Must be a doozy of a thumb injury. Anybody taking Anthony in fantasy this year ? Last year he was the rage.

On the other side we have...drum roll..............Sergio !!!!!!! Heeee's backkkkk. Playing some good golf.....i think he adds to the flavor. People either love him or hate him. I kind of like Sergio. He could factor in a big tournament.....can you say....The Open ?????? Wasn't even in the thing until he finished second last week on the Euro Tour. I can think of several more guys for this thread , but i will leave a few for you guys.

Seems like some of those we have mentioned read this stuff since they played pretty well last week. Leonard especially. Good story about the jerk and I have seen a few of them. Remember the first time I saw Liklighter(sp) come into get a car. Twirling his putter in one hand and real nice eye candy in the other. He thought he had the world by the short and curlies. Never did enough to even have a flame-out.

Last friday went to a Bridgestone ball fitting, they wanted me to hit a higher ball flight. Don't know if I really want a ball with more spin unless they make one with just a little sideways spin;-) 90 mph club head speed still.
After playing 2 tough courses last week fairly well except for the blowup holes, tried an easier course yesterday. Couldn't believe how bad I played, shanked the ball all over the place. Wierd that others that I got grouped with were doing the same thing.
