Yes, you heard right. I voted for Mccain in the Mcdivots poll a little while back. Why the change?

When I determine who I vote for I weigh each and every issue and the importance of each issue to me and my family. I don't follow party lines even though I come from a republican background and have voted republican more times than not.
I was not enamoured with Obama or McCain so here is what swayed me to vote for Obama,

1)Sarah Palin - I;m not against a woman Vice President or President for that matter. That will happen soon enough. I'm against the possibilty of a grossly unqualified person possibly becoming the President in the event that McCain was uanble to complete his term. McCain is 72 and has heart trouble, He would have been at moderate risk of not being able to complete his term.

2)McCain - real change or a continuation of Bush? McCain supported 90%+ of Bush supported issues that came across his way. Now I voted for Bush twice and it was very hard to vote for him the 2nd time. This is the first time on election day in my lifetime that I can't say that I'm better off than I was 4 years ago in regards to financial, environmental. my outlook for the country, my views of what the rest of the world thinks of us etc..... McCain at his age is who he is and is not going to change at this stage of his life, At best, he would been an average President and that was even a stretch to me. This country at this time needs someone special and I believe that McCain had ZERO chance at being that person.

3)Real change and/or possibly someone special in this country? I disagree on many issues with Obama as I do with McCain. But we are going to have change, lots of change. Obama has a largely dominated democratic congress to work with and things will get done, good or bad. Obama is young, very young for a President. As a senator of my state, I have seen Obama grow in leaps and bounds over the last 4 years. He can change and grow tremendously over the next 4 years. He actually can be a very special President at a time that it is so needed.

Some good reasons Roy and I hope for the best in "Change". There are 2 things that really weigh on my mind that I hoped either could accomplish.

1. Health Care, that really needs to be overhauled and a great change to be made there.

2. Iraq, I would hope that with what this country has been through in the past that we "Don't" pull out to early and leave things undone such as in Vietnam. When we leave, it needs to be a victory not a pull out. Now, should we have even been there ??? That's another story !!!!

Can he or if McCain was elected do it ??? Guess time will tell.

Some good points. Have to agree with all of them.
I have felt that the constitution has been bent over the last 8 years to the advantage of those in power. I hope that will change. Having 3 branches in the same party should remove some of the roadblocks to getting things done. Hope they don't abuse that power. The infrastructure of the country needs lots of work, most was started under Ike and we need another initiave like that. Would put lots of people to work at well paying jobs, not like the $10/hour jobs that have been recently created.
Read a story about a lady gettinginto a cab with an African imigrant driver. His country was installing a new leader too. He told the leader that his country's leader couldn't harm the children of the world but the US President could. I think the children of the world will be safer in 4 years than they are now.

I agree partly, I voted for McCain, but did not care really for either totally. I wish we had a viable third selection, but nothing ever came, nor really no shining light (IMO) from either party.

1. I was not really concerned about Palin. At least as long as McCain made it to 1/20/2009. By then the staff would have been in place and I do believe that it is more about those that do, than the President. BO really has very little experience either. Glad and somewhat relieved to hear your comment about his growth, and hope he may continue on that path. I am more concerned about Biden than Palin.

2. Age really was an unspoken issue in this election, even more-so than race. I was concerned about JM's age, and agree that this is really not his time, I believe that 2000 was more his time when W got the nomination. It will be interesting to see how history judges W. Not too many people are thrilled or happy ( I am one of those) with the current conditions, however, I do believe that Congress shares that albatross. I agree he would have been average at best. I would have been concerned about his temper as well.

3. Change, this will be what BO has to deliver, and I'm afraid that it will not be easy. I await his first decisions as to who he chooses to surround himself as his staff. While he does have a democratic majority, he may have problems overcoming the "good old boy Democrats" that are in Washington. If he does as he promises, I think he will struggle going line by line when he deletes those democratic sponsored programs. That will be a major test of just how this will bear out.

I wish him luck and great success as he does have one heck of a battle and job facing him

I forgot the bit about staffing which has been the problem lately. We will see shortly how that plays out.

I don't agree with any of Roy's points. Things will get done alright......things that will cost us even more money. Obama is left of leftwing. The centrist talk was to get elected. The dems won't be happy until we need to apply to a government agency to take a leak. Tax me when i die.....tax me if i eat....tax me if i drive....more tax money for our schools of indoctrination........free healthcare ; how is that going to work boys.....you will be working for the government until july ......that's your change. You should have voted Libertarian if you wanted change. Oblama is the worst choice you could have made.

Most of the Oblama idiots i have talked to would like to shut down golf courses and plant hemp. I'm not kidding....these people do not want you to waste water on golf. You will get your change. Good luck with it.

No offense, but talk about an extremist over exaggeration point of you, wow and here we have it.

If I believed what you do and I'm sure this barely scraps the surface, I would be considering to move to another country, especiall;y if the golf courses were closing. :)
