1. Steve Stricker...no surprise to me. Steady player, competitive, really good putter under pressure.

2. Hunter Mahan...Good pick...good ball striker, tough competitor.

3. J.B. Holmes...Knows Valhalla, can't figure any other reason to pick him.

4. CHAD CAMPBELL!!! This one surprises me a LOT.

What are your thoughts?

Mahan - very surprised considering his attitude towards the Ryder Cup

Campbell - What happened to picking hot players, which he is not.

I have no problems with the other two.

I still think Rocco Mediate should have been picked

I'm lnot surprised at Mahan. I think he only verbalized, rightly or wrongly, what every player that plays the cup believes. I think Zinger has been there enough to agree with what Mahan said, even though he probably didn't think he should have said it publicly, although Zinger probably would have had no problem saying it himself, so he picked a guy with "fire" in Mahan, plus he's playing well.

Campbell I'm really surprised at, and listening to the interview, I think others are too.

Stricker - Good Pick
Mahan - Better play good after his lip service. I would have left him home.
Holmes - Has been fairly hot this year. Still surprising.
Campbell - Must have nekkid pictures of Zingers old lady.

Later,

I guess I got two of the four right..........or wrong. Not really surprised at Chad Campbell. Good ball striker and I think will do a good job.

Stricker: No surprise, has been playing better lately.

Mahan: One that I thought he would chose.

Holmes: Not a bad pick, and he does have a good short game when he is on.

Campbell: Complete Shock !!!!! I think DJ Trahan would have been a better pick !!!!

2 suprises from my perspective;
With Mahan's comments, I thought he would have been left off. You have to wonder what his attitude will be and if it will change.
Campbell is a bigger suprise though. I agree that Trahan seemed more logical
It was the president of the champs tour that gave me the DLIII comment. Guess the 2 tours aren'y as close as he thought

I think Holmes was picked for his knowledge of Valhalla and kind of a "home towner" for the fans, along with Perry. I don't think his course knowledge with help all that much. He's a bomber and a streaky player. If he's on he'll be tough to beat, but I ewould not have picked him..

Campbell is a good ball striker but only slighter more alive than Ben Curtis on the course. Maybe the strategy will be to put their opponents to sleep!! ;)

I would have liked to have seen Woody and Rocco picked. These are two guys who could motivate and get our guys fired up everyday. The thing i noticed in the last couple of ryder cup matches was that our guys just seemed to be just going thru the motions. No real enuthisiam what so ever. Once we got behind it was all over. Nobody to really rally the troops so to speak. i think these two guys would have been better picks is all.
Chad Campell, when i see him on T. V. i just cringe. he looks like a walking corspe to me. He shows exactly no emotion. Sometimes i wonder if he is alive or not out there. Not my favorite player to watch out there. I hope he plays well. though. Other than Boo i dont see anyone firing these guys up.
I hope we can pull it off this time but im having some serous doubts about it. Go USA

Gary
